jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 My music collection consists of .WAV and MP3 files, and I have chosen not to store any nfo or artwork files into my music folders. However, I noticed that many of my music files have the artist's name listed as a genre tag. On top of this, many of them have Jay-Z listed as genre. When I try to fix the issue or edit information for unknown albums Emby seems to add Jay-Z as a Genre tag. I have attached the log, and I'm wondering what information you might need to fix this. Thanks. embyserver.txt 1
jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 Right now I only use the Web app, and Shield client.
Luke 42080 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 The shield app is getting an update pushed out for this. Thanks.
jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 I was using the web app to make my changes though. I never used the shield to change tags. I'm trying to fix my tags so the wife can use the Android mobile app to download music but it just looks sketchy because the tags are all akward. I think it might be a server issue. I can try to make a screen capture to demonstrate the problem
Vicpa 611 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 The shield app is getting an update pushed out for this. Thanks. Hi @@Luke I am seeing this in apps as well. The above is confusing this is a server thing right? Why would a app have to push an update to correct? if it is an app thing could you document the changes so I can make them in ember. Thanks!
Vicpa 611 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Hi @@Luke Further examination also shows that "Album Artist" is being returned for "Artists". thanks

Vicpa 611 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Hi @@Luke Sure is. Maybe it is just the c# apiclient ? See below you will see the artists in the genre fields and in the tracks you will see the album artist not artists. they in this case should appear as Thelonious Monk; Gerry Mulligan Thanks,

jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 What can I use to update my file tags. Are thegs incorrect or is the web app reading the wrong tag?
Luke 42080 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 What can I use to update my file tags. Are thegs incorrect or is the web app reading the wrong tag? There should be no problem in the web app so you'll need to go through a detailed example. Thanks.
jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) I opened the Emby Web app as the administrative user who has permissions to manage the library and make changes. I selected the artist sort under music, then selected one of the unknown albums listed under unknown artist. This one happened to be a Led Zepplin album. In the Before genre edit screenshot below you can see Jay-Z is not listed, and I think it says something like Led Zepplin, and unknown Artist. So I pressed the more button chose to edit the metadata to remove all genres. Afterwards I hit save. I then hit the more button again to check the genres, and in the screenshot called after genre edit you can see led zeppelin, and JayZ listed as the genre, and the backdrop on the album's web page shows JayZ fanart. I hope that is more descriptive, and I can provide more info if need be. Thanks. Edited July 29, 2019 by jachin99 1
Vicpa 611 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Hi @@Luke So currently "Data.Artists" is not returning as before a string array of artist names if any, and should be updated to the named pair "artistitems" (easy for you to say..LOL!!) I will look to see if can figure that out, or pass it off to 7Illusions. You are correct if data.Artists is null the album artist will be used. I am still confused as to why artists show up as genres. the ember app is definitely using genreId Thanks!!
ebr 16185 Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I am still confused as to why artists show up as genres. the ember app is definitely using genreId That is a defect. It just only shows up if you are using the old properties.
jachin99 88 Posted July 29, 2019 Author Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) That is a defect. It just only shows up if you are using the old properties. How do I switch to the new properties? Do the apps need to be updated? If I remove the music library and recreate it will that fix the problem? Will uninstalling the server, and reinstalling it change anything because I originally installed an old version. Edited July 29, 2019 by jachin99
jachin99 88 Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) Bump. Is there anything I can do to solve my problem? I tried a different browser, and this time it added Korn to the Genre when I edited the albm Edited July 30, 2019 by jachin99
Happy2Play 9782 Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I am seeing this on my beta server .35 but not on stable .40. Will try a new build when I get at chance. Web Client UI appears fine but MM/Edit metadata on Album or Track show this.
