You can use the settings under "Advanced" to change the port.

I changed it to port 443, but ended up losing the connection to the panel.

Why did you lose access to the server dashboard? Did you set the regular http port as 443? If so, why?

I am new to this system and I am learning, I modify the port but when it adds to the browser no longer loads the page. I use on a dedicated server from ovh, with ubuntu system.

443 is something you would set for the https port, not the http port.

Are you still able to get into the web app using the :8096 port?

You can get to the wiki article for that screen by clicking the Help button at the top, but this question is really about your personal setup.

It sounds like you want to set the public https port to 443.

Ports 1024 and below are privileged. In other words root level access is needed to bind them. It's easier to keep the standard ports for emby and proxy or forward the entry point.

the question is, WHY do you want / need to change the default Emby Ports?

I would also use a Reverse Proxy for forwarding the default HTTP and HTTPS ports to the Emby Application.

That's exactly, how my setup is working - and the best thing, I am way more flexible and I don't care about certificate settings or "remote access" settings in emby.
All of this will be managed by the reverse proxy I am using.
