After update to 4.2.0.40 can no longer select video format via clients

Prior to updating to 4.2.0.40 I was able to select the video format via Roku, Android, Chrome, etc. I have MKV movies stored as 480p, 1080p, 4K, etc. Before the update I could select which one I wanted to play. After the update I cannot. It still allows me to change audio and subtitles. Just not video.

As an example. For movies I have both 1080p and 4K the client only shows 4K and won't let me select 1080p. My Roku Ultra is connected to a 1080p Samsung TV. Even though it only shows 4K, it is still able to be played on the TV. I was thinking maybe it was playing the 1080p version even though it was only showing 4K as an option, but when I looked at Stats for Nerd it showed the resolution was 4K. So I am not sure what is going on.

Again I see the same behavior with the Android and Web clients too. I have not tested this with Emby Theater on Windows yet.

This is my first post to the community. I am a recent Emby Premiere user. So please take it easy on me. :)

Thanks for your help!

Michael

I also see the same behavior for a movie I have stored in 1080p and 4K, but the clients only show 1080p for it. Kind of weird because other movies with both formats only show 4K.

Well I just got an idea to go and rescan the Movies library. This seems to have resolved the issue. Sorry for the post, but maybe it will help someone else. Again I am an Emby newbie. :)

Thanks,

Michael

Hi, what version did you upgrade from?

It's not normal that you would have to run a scan following an update but there were some changes related to multi version videos.

Thanks.

Luke,

The previous days embyserver-xxxxxx.txt log shows 4.1.1.0. Todays log shows 4.2.0.40.

Thanks for the reply!
