Hi,

If I have "somefile.mp4" and the "somefile.nfo" metadata file with playcount and watched status, can I move both files to a new lib and keep play and watched status on the target lib?

Thanks

My understanding is Emby does not use the nfo information (play count, watched status).  Emby tracks watched statuses by providerids (TVDB, TMDB, IMDBid).  So moving media around has no effect on watched status.  Not sure on play count but that should be linked to the same item.  Only issue you run into is item that do not have providerids then "path is used" and moving these items around loses watched status.

Yes this is correct, and play count applies to this as well.

So Emby creates the nfo file but does not use it. All the files I tested end up with unread status, I would like to move some files to a "archive" dir in a different disk but keep track of seen/played times. :(

No way to do this?

How about a specific example.  Do any of the items you are moving have a external providerid?

Sorry, what do you mean "external providerid"?

Where the metadata comes from (TVDB, TMDB, IMDB, ect).  If these are items with no external ids the they are tracked by "Path" and everything is lost every time you move the item.

**Actually I believe items without providerids are tracked by a unique itemid that changes when these items are moved, as the item gets removed from the database then re-added.

No, most of them are from a gopro camera, so no external ID for sure.

Maybe a hash could be used instead in future versions.

Thanks

Currently your only option would be making changes directly to the database offline.

Not worth the effort :)

Thanks anyway.
