HumNummaHumma 0 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I've recently started seeing the 'Playback Error - No compatible streams are currently available" error for newer mp4 files that I've added to my library. - Windows 10 (64 bit) - Google Chrome Version 75.0.3770.100 - Emby Server 4.1.1.0 I'm logging into my Emby server from the same computer where the media files exist. I navigate to my movies area and attempt to start a movie. I get the Playback Error message for some of my videos but not for others. Other videos in the same directory play fine. The paths all seem to be setup correctly. When I go to metadata manager and click the problematic videos, the path that shows up on the right is correct. (I can paste this path into Windows Explorer, and the video plays fine.) I have updated my nVidia drivers and restarted my computer. This does not resolve the error. I have ensured that my Internet streaming bitrate limit field is set to null. I'm not sure where to find an ffmpeg log, but I'm attaching the embyserver one. embyserver.txt
Luke 42092 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Hi there, the ffmpeg log would be in the same folder as the main server log. if there was one then please attach that as well. Thanks.
Solution Luke 42092 Posted July 9, 2019 Solution Posted July 9, 2019 Ok, what i see here is the server is unable to run it's own ffmpeg builds: 2019-07-09 14:45:39.358 Error MediaEncoder: Error running ffmpeg -hide_banner -version From past experience, we've seen cases where user's anti-virus or security software blocks it from running. Please go here: C:\Users\brent\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system and make sure these three files exist: ffmpeg.exe ffprobe.exe ffdetect.exe If any are missing, then you probably have security software that quarantined them as a false positive. In that case, try installing from our website on top of your existing version. 1
HumNummaHumma 0 Posted July 9, 2019 Author Posted July 9, 2019 (edited) I have "ffprobe.exe" and "ffdetect.exe" but I don't see "ffmpeg.exe" in that directory. What should I install from your website? EDIT: Never mind. I just realized you meant to reinstall Emby Server from your website. Once I did that, the "ffmpeg.exe" file appears in the 'system' directory as expected. I've restarted the server and my videos are playing successfully, both on my computer and on the Roku on my TV. Thanks for your quick help! Edited July 9, 2019 by HumNummaHumma
Luke 42092 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Thanks for the feedback. I would make sure any security software is fully up to date to try and ensure it doesn't happen again.
