Mambobuzzz 1 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Hi there, I've installed Emby on a Windows 10 PC. Everything runs smooth. Thank you. But I really can't figure out how the remote connection works. I didn't allow any port transfer on my router, Upnp is disabled in it. I even unchecked the box in the Emby settings. But still. I'm able to watch 1080p movies away from home. Can someone tell me how the magic works? Is there some kind of indirect connection over my Emby Account? Mambobuzzz
Luke 42080 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Hi, if you've disabled upnp in your router then i"m not sure how it's getting through. Maybe you had it enabled and Emby Server was able to create a rule at that time? You can always disable remote access from inside Emby Server. There is no magic, no other way besides basic port forwarding.
Solution Mambobuzzz 1 Posted July 9, 2019 Author Solution Posted July 9, 2019 Ok. Thank you very much for you're answer. You must be right. Upnp was first enabled. 1
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Stil... I now tried the following: -deacting Upnp. -changed the HTTP and HTTPs port to unkown ports. -reset the android app After a login, server is still reacheable. Upnp is activated on my modem. But the new ports won't display. Do you have an idea? How can i work?
Guest asrequested Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Have you deselected allow remote connections?
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 No I didn't. I want it to be accessible remotely. I've just wondering how it still can work!
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 I disabled it to see if it still works without it. It does and I don't understand how.
Guest asrequested Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 To recap, you've never tried to configure your server for remote access? Your router firewall is working and hasn't been modified? UPNP and automatic port mapping, both on router and server are completely disabled? No ports are forwarded on your router? What does canyouseeme tell you?
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Allow remote connections has always been activated. Router is activated and no port has been opened on it for Emby. Both on router and server is Upnp deactivated. canyouseeme is very good. On both http and https, success is given. -1 or +1 around fails.
Guest asrequested Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 That doesn't make any sense. Https should definitely fail unless you've configured it. You've obviously done something.
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 I don't even have a certificate. I just entered a new port number. I don't understand it too.
Guest asrequested Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Disable allowing remote access. What happens then?
Mambobuzzz 1 Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 That works! Access to the server is lost. I believe Upnp option in Emby doesn't work. Like it's always on. And on my router Upnp registration always works too. Two bugs I guess.
Guest asrequested Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I doubt that, but you'd have to post logs for Luke to look at.
Luke 42080 Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 We'd have to look at the server log from when this happened. That will tell us if any upnp features were used or not. Thanks.
