Is it possible to create new media types?

Hello Folks,

I'm very new to Emby and enjoying it very much so far.

Please could someone tell me if it's possible to add to the list of content types? I have a lot of audio and would like to have more types than the usual "TV shows", "Games" etc.  to segregate them.

Thanks very much.

Andy.

Hi, no, but you can create multiple libraries of the same type and that will keep them separated. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Thank you Luke,

Perhaps if I explain what I'm trying to do in more detail you may know of another way to achieve it.

I have a lot of audio files, that fall into many types, comedy, crime, science etc. all arranged into albums. I would like to be able to pick these types at the highest level and still have the album structure below. So I was hoping to have them all in their own folder structure and tell Emby about each one and give each its own content type. That way they would be separate from the top, just as movies and games are and retain the structure below.

If I could add content types, that would solve it for me very neatly.

All the best,

Andy.

What if you tagged them with your categories as their "Aritist".  Emby would then present you with Artists of comedy, crime, etc. and then albums under that.

Thank you ebr,

They do already have artists and I would be reluctant to loose that.

It's unfortunate as the catagories would be such a good fit.

All the best,

Andy.

We plan to offer smart views/playlists in the future and that will allow you to create dynamic categories based on certain criteria. That might help once available.

That sounds great.

Thanks very much. I'll look forward to it.

And if you wished to make the category labels editable, that would be great too!

Thanks again,

Andy.
