clarkss12 304 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I have been transitioning my DVR service from my HDHomeRun DVR service. Yesterday, I noticed that my "Have gun will travel" series is set to record episodes that are already in my library. All the episodes that are to be recorded show up under the episodes using the Web app. My "Alf" recording schedule is correct, and the files are located on my WD NAS, same as HGWL. I am running Version 4.1.1.0 and emby client Android TV beta 1.7.35 Dropbox video showing what I mean. https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2vo0kxe9nn50aj/recording%20same%20program%20again.mp4?dl=0
Luke 42083 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Hi, did you read the help text underneath the option?
clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Thank you, mystery solved......... The name of the TV show that is in my recording folder is >> "Have Gun, Will Travel - 3x14 - The Naked Gun" The name of the TV show that is set to Play is named >>> " Have Gun -- Will Travel - S3 14. Naked GunRecorded show has a coma after Gun, the scheduled show has -- after gun............... Guess that means they are not the same show..
Luke 42083 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 What matters are the season and episode numbers, and the series name.
clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 It appears that the way TV episode is displayed, also determines whether it has already been recorded.
clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Saga continues, following Lt. Columbo's lead, I tried some sleuthing. First I tried renaming three of the Have Gun Will Travel to the format that Emby recognizes, thinking that was the issue, but NO. Those 3 files that I change the names to, STILL show set to record. I even did a complete library re-scan. Next, I am going to MOVE those 3 episodes to my Emby recording destination, and see if that helps........ stay tuned....... BTW, I found out that Filebot changed the series name, and placed a "," in the series name. Here is where Filebot changed the name of the series. Here is the existing name before I changed it. Here is the re-named episodes. Even with name change, it is set to record. Edited July 6, 2019 by clarkss12
clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Plot continues. I MOVED my re-named episodes to the Emby CREATED folder and did another library scan. Same problem........ episodes STILL set to record.......When I moved the episodes, I also MOVED the nfo and BIFF files. Now I will delete those NFO and BIF files and test again............ Edited July 6, 2019 by clarkss12
clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) Final update, when I deleted the NFO and BIF files for each episode, now those episodes are NOT scheduled to record............. So, it appears that Filebot changed the show name to something Emby did not like, so it could NOT match the metadata that was being supplied by the episodes. Changing the name to match the metadata alone did not help. I had to change the episode name AND delete the NFO file.............. Edited July 6, 2019 by clarkss12
ebr 16187 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 The problem was probably that the NFO files contained incorrect information and we always give priority to the local metadata. Now that you've solved that, do the episodes show properly in the new Android TV beta?

Now that you've solved that, do the episodes show properly in the new Android TV beta? No, those episodes still do NOT show up under the Emby app. This is testing with my Nvidia Shield. I even Uninstalled and re-installed the Emby app, did not help. Also, looking at the NFO files, I could not see anything that would cause the Emby DVR to not see it.......... Edit: Just for Grins, I went back to the NON-beta version of the Android TV Emby app, lo and behold, all of the episodes show up. Edited July 6, 2019 by clarkss12

clarkss12 304 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Tested Emby beta server, and no issues with missing episodes. Now I have to test the DVR portion of the beta server.
clarkss12 304 Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Moved all my "Have Gun Will Travel" episodes from my WD NAS to my Emby series recording destination, now everything is working as it should. Did not even have to change the name.
Luke 42083 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Both the guide data and your existing episodes need to have season and episode numbers in order for this to work.
