echoxxzz 22 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 If an artist has a "+" symbol in their name it disables the alphanumeric jump list along the right side of the artist page. Similarly, if the Albumartist has a + sign in their name, the jump list is disabled for Albumartist page. I have attached a sample mp3 file tagged with full Musicbrainz data using the Musicbrainz Picard meta-tagging application although you can easily duplicate the problem by editing the metadata for an artist in Emby and putting a + character in the title field. It also messes up the display order and artists with a + sign are always at the beginning of the list even though they shouldn't be. A+ - Enjoy Yourself (radio edit).mp3
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Another special case Artist, where I would assume these rules apply. Adding a Sort title resolves the issue. <SortReplaceCharacters> <string>.</string> <string>+</string> <string>%</string> </SortReplaceCharacters> <SortRemoveCharacters> <string>,</string> <string>&</string> <string>-</string> <string>{</string> <string>}</string> <string>'</string> </SortRemoveCharacters> <SortRemoveWords> <string>the</string> <string>a</string> <string>an</string> </SortRemoveWords>
echoxxzz 22 Posted July 5, 2019 Author Posted July 5, 2019 Is this something I can do or does this require a fix to the Emby Server app?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Well there are special cases like this Artist, "A" is normally removed when any media starts with the word "A" (ie A Christmas Carol gets sorted to "C") and + gets replace with a space I believe so now the name is in a black hole. Easiest fix in add a sort title for the Artist. But if you don't like the rules Emby has defined you can delete them from your system.xml. (*\Emby-Server\programdata\config) But with such a edge case I would just use the workaround.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 (edited) What do you mean by disables the jump list? With that artist the jump list disappear, adding a sort tile it reappears. I can assume the A and + get removed and now there is something blank being sorted. Edited July 5, 2019 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 What do you mean it disappears? My server is restarting but I will post before and after images when adding this artist. But jump list is visible before the artist and gone after adding the artist.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 (edited) @@Luke before after Applies to AlbumArtist and Artist, as noted adding a sort titile to the Artist the jump list returns. tested on 4.2.0.24 Edited July 5, 2019 by Happy2Play
Luke 42079 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Just from having any one single artist with + in the name?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Just from having any one single artist with + in the name? Only tested adding the example given, Artist named "A+" but yes.
echoxxzz 22 Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 I just assumed it was the + character in general but it seems it's really just the artist A+. Adding + to the end of other artists doesn't have the effect of disabling the jumplist for me.
skidmarks 199 Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 (edited) I just realized this sounded very similar to the issue i reported in the beta section... https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/74515-42015-jump-feature-mia-in-music/ After seeing @@Happy2Play images i went to check my library. musicbrainz added another bizarre entry into my library and i had a rouge artist named A. Removed this and immediately had my jump list back in the beta version! Thanks guys.... and the + issue sounds like my ÷ issue. Corrected that by adding a sort title of Divide Edited July 6, 2019 by skidmarks
