Hi,

 

Bought an android tv x96 max, and install the Emby for Android tv app from the play store.

 

When I start Emby, and select the server, the screen goes black and then hangs repeatedly.

 

Don’t have this issue on my Nvidia sheild.

 

Is there an issue with the app and the x96?

What version of Android is it?

 

If it is 9.0 the latest beta may fix it.

But i dont belive it runs google Android TV either, as its interface is different to my Shield.

 

Can i load up google Android TV somehow?

 

How do I get the 9.0 beta installed too?

nope, those knock off boxe run a hacked version of atv.  True ATV is not in the wild as an apk, which is why there are certified boxes like the Shield.

Did you try our beta app (linked above)?

 

If that still doesn't work then the box may just not be compatible.

seems no solution for this so far? I was lurking in the dark a bit until I came across the same or similar problem (so far I am a happy user).
 
I have an x96 Andorid TV Box as well (Android 9) and for me the app crashes after trying to login: I can start the app, it finds the server in the local network, I can choose a user, enter password and then it tries to load until it crashes...
Already tried the beta version and I tried to connect via DynDns and emby connect. Same results.

Edit: Also tried the regular Android App, which works but I can't use the remote control of the box.
 
Is there anything I could try or looking forward to? I can provide the logs from server if this helps, it looks like this:

Emby for Android TV: Version 1.8.00g  ==> Crashes with login

 

Emby for Android: Version 3.1.22 ==> Works, but can't be controlled with the remote (works fine if I connect a mouse)

Thank you never noticed that. Seems to work fine  

... only performance with the app on that device is not that great. Full HD movies and live streams are a bit stuttering.

I guess that would be not the issue with the andorid for tv app. 

 

Anyway I am fine with it  (I have another app for iptv wich works better) .

Yes i saw it, yes it kind of works, however playback is not smooth moslty on 4k videos
