Completed Better File/Folder Exclusion Support

So I am reevaluating EMBY again for my needs and something that I just noticed is lacking support for ignore file with patterns.

 

With a rather large anime library, some of the older best encodes for certain sources make use segment linking, so when I would usually split the OP/ED into an extra folder, in the cases of files using segments, I must keep them all together. This causes emby to display them under the season.

 

Can we please get support for ignoring filenames using patterns (either via a file or field within the library section.

This is one of the few things holding me back from migrating to emby full time.

 

The above is a good example, but I also use it heavily in my photos library as-well.

Yeah I saw that, but not exactly what i'm looking for.

 

With Plex I have a .plexignore file in the root of that library with a list of patterns to ignore. Using what you suggested would ignore all subfolders making the library essentially empty (which is what happened during my testing). If you read above you will see why this is not practical on a folder by folder basis.

Yea I understand. I think it is a good idea for us to support more advanced ignoring. The problem is just where do we prioritize the work as it will be targeting a very small audience.

Understandable. I was simply make a feature request. It is also a fairly simple thing to implement as I assume you have the basic ignore logic for files containing "sample" in there name already (from what I can see).

 

My logic is you would just be calling an array of strings to filter filenames through from such a file or global option (under admin / library ui ). TBF I haven't looked over the code, but that was just ruff logic.

 

Honestly other than the webui (certain suchs annoy the hell out of me) and apps (just need more polish) I have been using emby more and more. Just a few little things that stop me using it full time.

 

edit: i would also consider this an advance option, while many wont need it, it will most certainly be used (as is the case with many such features).
