Getting rid of old channels

I previously had three m3u tuner lists and at least one xmltv guide installed plus the NextPVR plugin, now version 5. I decided to get rid of all the m3u tuner lists and xmltv guides and try going back to just using the Nextpvr plugin. I've tried restarting the server and updating the guide but just can't get rid of a lot of the old channels. Any thoughts please.

For instance. the 4 '7' channels below, despite looking similar, are actually 4 different channels when you hover over the different Sevens. There are lots of other channels lower down that should have been deleted but weren't and channels I just added to NextPVR that I presume should show up when I update the guide in Emby.

During my testing of the NextPVR plugin I was never able to find an answer to the cleanup question https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/72899-database-cleanup/ on how to do what you are asking.  I ended up just deleting rows using sqlite which is probably not a good solution.

Yep, letting me even in the same country as sqlite would be a recipe for disaster...

Server log?

I could probably send everything from yesterday...I'll attach them anyway, just in case.

....1354.txt I think is the one where I was removing some m3u lists and updating the guide, in the evening 7,8,9 pm

....1984.txt think I removed remaining m3u stuff and updated the guide.

....0400.txt more updating of guide, or maybe it was removing the last of the m3u stuff. Sorry for being so vague. Anyway, they're there if you want them.

..or did you want me to restart the server and do something (what ?) specifically ?

Looking at those logs reminds me I need to update the test plugin sometime.  I changed the poll logic a lot.

I guess that isn't related to the original problem though ?

Presume there isn't an easy fix - delete some small live TV channel list file or something that I could safely be let loose on ?

If you don't need your current library that you are using for testing, you can delete it and let Emby recreate it.   If you do I can clean it out for yo with sqlite.

Your last log does show some of the problems in the database with Emby trying to load m3u and xmltv informaton.

By current library do you mean the whole library.db thing (which is apparently 490MB) or a live TV database ? (I don't have a test library as such, it just my normal in use Emby database).

Ok yes that is not a test database.  I can still clean it if Luke isn't able to help you out.

Thanks for the offer. Will wait a bit and see if Luke gets a chance to do anything.

After that its either you kindly clearing it out vs chucking and waiting impatiently for a shiny new database to build. Another decision, that could be two in one week - aaaarrrgh.

@arrbe99 I just had a deeper look at your logs since I tried the Emby beta today and felt there was no way that you should be able to login to NextPVR with the test addon.  Sure enough you have the same message that I expected.

    System.MissingMethodException: System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Byte[] MediaBrowser.Model.Cryptography.ICryptoProvider.ComputeMD5(Byte[])'.

I need to update the addon after I do a bit more testing.  I expect you will be running out of guide data soon.

Interesting. Had no idea. Yes, guide in Emby is only there for today and tomorrow.

So I removed NextPVR plugin, stopped the server and renamed library.db to library.db.old and restarted the server. Finally all Live TV has disappeared. Hopefully i'll be able to have a go with the updated plugin properly now.

Interestingly (to me) my library.db file has gone from 490MB to 146MB. Bit of a difference, hopefully for a good reason.

Good Day...I don't know if this will help you get rid of old channels but it sure helped me get rid of incorrectly mapped channels that were either auto mapped by MB or myself. It's not an ideal process but it worked for me after several attempts and processes to do just that. So while waiting on this TEAM to get the channel management solution I did the following:

  1. Close down MB completely
  2. Make copy of library.db file
  3. Compact library.db file (I don't know if this part was necessary but it did reduce the size of the database by 36%)
  4. Delete the channel stream related to the incorrect mapping in the m3u file.
  5. Delete the guide data provider that contained the incorrect mapping hold (in this case USA-DITV-DEFAULT)
  6. Copy back compacted library.db file
  7. Reload m3u file and restart MB
  8. Check that previously incorrect mapping is gone
  9. Re-map channel to correct mapping program
  10. Done

Cheers!!

Thanks, I saw that on other threads you posted that in. It might well help in the future, but as mentioned I've taken the opportunity to just redo library.db from scratch whereupon it shrank significantly (compressed itself, so to speak).

I think my guide got buggered up as I was experimenting just adding essentially the same channels over and over but from different sources to try to see which worked best - some from dvb-s via NextPVR, some from iptv via NextPVR, some via iptv but using Emby directly (actually two different iptv sources). So thats 4 sources for more or less the same stuff.
