embra55 0 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Hi, Two questions. Firstly, why does Emby do it's own thing as regards images?. I've locked things so changes won't be made, yet images still disappear and the only way to apparently get them back is to do so manually, which is a bit of a pain when there are over 5000 movies and 1100+ music cd's. [which aren't handled well in the first place], not to mention TV shows and all their episodes etc. Any ideas? Secondly, further to my recent post, I am still unable to get subtitles. Why? For both of the above, I have followed the wiki articles to the letter, so don't send me there. In my opinion Emby doesn't seem to like handling very large databases. Off Topic: As a point of interest, I bought Emby and Plex at the same time to see which one I preferred. While Emby is nicer to look at, Plex deals with with things better, and is in front for selection. The big thing for me is not being able to add Emby to my NAS [QNAP TS-328], whereas Plex I can and access from anywhere without having to leave my PC running. Anyway, I diverse. Look forward to hearing about a solution. Regards, Ronnie
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 How about a specific examples as I know I don't see this behavior.
embra55 0 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Okay. I'm attaching screens of what I get with Emby and what I get with Plex. Can't get any more specific than that. I can't give music videos for Plex as I don't have them on that yet. But you get the general picture as to what the problem is.
Luke 42085 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Secondly, further to my recent post, I am still unable to get subtitles. Why? We will help you with this in your other thread. Thanks.
Luke 42085 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Firstly, why does Emby do it's own thing as regards images?. I've locked things so changes won't be made, yet images still disappear and the only way to apparently get them back is to do so manually, Where are the images? Who originally downloaded the images, you, or did Emby Server?
embra55 0 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Emby server d/loaded them. They're in the hidden folder 'AppData->Emby-Server->Roaming'. pics are all there, just that Emby seems incapable of displaying them.
Luke 42085 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Can we look at one specific example, let's say The Blue Planet. What is the full path to the image file for that?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Since images are not saved with media, there is no way to compare products. I can only assume something changed within the library that has cause images to have issues. When images are not save in media folders Emby expects the itemid to never change or if it does those existing images are obsolete and get deleted when the old id gets purged. Without logs of when this happens I think this is going to be difficult to troubleshoot. Emby server d/loaded them. They're in the hidden folder 'AppData->Emby-Server->Roaming'. pics are all there, just that Emby seems incapable of displaying them. How do you know they are all there? As it can be a pain finding what you are looking for in \metadata\library\xx\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx id folders.
Luke 42085 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Without logs of when this happens I think this is going to be difficult to troubleshoot. You're right, but since this is about something that happened in the past, the logs may not help unless it happened very recently and he still has the log file from it. I already have a few guesses of causes of this, I'm hoping to narrow it down through a few questions.
embra55 0 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Trial and Error: All posters are in the media folders i.e posters, backgrounds, banners, nfo's, thumbs etc. This has just happened over the weekend. Were there on Friday, and gone today. Have logs for 25/06/2019 back to 21/06/2019 [Emby Server]. Also for hardware_detection.
Luke 42085 Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Can you please answer the question exactly from post #7? Can we look at one specific example, let's say The Blue Planet. What is the full path to the image file for that? I would like to get to the bottom of one specific example. Thanks.
Luke 42085 Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Happy to help further if you can answer that. Thanks.
