ErikaJ 65 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Good day...I started getting a green screen for a few of my OTA channels but none of the IPTV channels. Previously I had a Hauppauge 4 tuner card which was not being supported from MB because it was old. So I purchased and installed a HDHR 4 tuner appliance. Using the HDHR app on my windows box and watching live TV, everything is fine. Watching live TV through MB I get some channels with green screens with audio. This never happened with the internal Hauppauge card. I download the latest graphics drivers and still green screens. I tickled the transcoding off then on but no joy under either scenario. Files attached for your review. Thanks in advance. ErikaJ 65 Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 Hey Ebr thanks for the reply. Is this via the host PC or within Emby. Cheers..
Luke 42081 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 We're still working on chasing down the situations in which this happens. There is a chance it is resolved in the 4.2 beta. As the others have said, you can also turn off hardware acceleration in the server transcoding section. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks. @@softworkz
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 Good Day...Apologies for the late response. Yes, disabling the transcoding from within the app seemes to have fixed the problem. Just an FYI, at first I disabled transcoding within W10 and that definitely fixed the problem however, it took almost 8 minutes for the stream to load but it worked just fine. Then I enabled it and disabled transcoding on the host machine via device manager for Intel 4600 but that didn't work at all. In fact, that move shut down the whole streaming for both IPTV and OTA streams. So just disabling via Emby seems to be the best fit so far. Thanks for the solution. Cheers...
softworkz 5071 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Most hw acceleration green screen issues are resolved in the 4.2.x (currently beta) branch. 1
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Good day...@@softworkz...I gather by your response, I should be using 4.2.x in order to eval the green monster? If so, should I eliminate the 4.1.1.0 from my computers or can I just install over that version? TIA...Cheers mates..
ebr 16185 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Hi. You can just install over your current version. However, once you do that, if you want to go back to release, you need to wait for 4.2 to be released or, start over with a fresh install. IOW - you cannot go backwards from beta to release without the potential for problems.
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Thanks ebr for the information and clarification. I think I will move to the beta version since I was having that green experience to eval and see if I can reproduce the issue. I know I can reproduce the issue in the present setup because i did just that moments ago while going back as a test. Then I can report the results back. I haven't looked for this answer yet in the forum but since I have your ear atm, what files would I have to save in order to migrate them to another W10 machine or another Windows server like 2016? I know what files to move in NPVR because I have done that with great success but does MB lend itself to such things as well? I did see where there is some "backup" plugin (I think) and was wondering if this is the tool to use. TIA...cheers mate...
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Good day...It looks like the beta did in fact eliminate the green screen issue for me. I viewed all my OTA channels and not one of thm had a green screen. Thanks for the fix...cheers...
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Good day...The green screen came back. After installing the Beta version (the correct way, thx @Happy) and making sure I was actually using Beta, I went through the channel lineup for both OTA and IPTV. IPTV has no issue. OTA on the other hand has green screens on about 6 channels. Transcoding was set to on so I changed it to advanced and made no other changes. Wholla like magic the green screen was gone. Changed transcoding to off with no other changes and viewing channels was great, no green screen. So yesterday Beta usage was .19 and today it's .20. I don't know if something happened between the 2 versions but for now I will leave it on Advanced or off. If you need some of the logs let me know. TIA...Cheers!!
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Good day...There was a small change in where the green screen decided to appear this morning. Yesterday it only appeared when transcoding was set to "yes" and dissappeared when it was set to either "no" or "advanced". Today the green screen appears when transcoding is set to either "yes" or "advanced". On "no" there is no green screen. I watched channel 17.2 from 0735hrs to 0738hrs when set to "no" and everything is okay. From 0739hrs to 0740hrs set to "advanced" same channel and we get a green screen. From 0741hrs to 0742hrs set to "yes" same channel and also green screen. Hope this information helps. TIA if you can shed some light on this for me. softworkz 5071 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 It's important to understand that there's not a single "green screen" issue - there are multiple different ones unfortunately. In most cases this is related to color conversion issues when the source video is HDR (10 bit or more). This isn't true in your case, the videos in the logs are normal 8 bit color and for this case the typical cause is that your Intel graphics drivers might not be ujp-to-date. (there was a bug in earlier Intel driver versions). Please download the latest graphics drivers directly from the the Intel website.and take note of the release date of the driver that Intel is suggesting you to download.
ErikaJ 65 Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 Thanks softworkz for the detailed info. I have downloaded the latest drivers from HP because when I tried to dl the drivers from Intel using their utility, I received a notice telling me that I had to dl the drivers from HP because they were a custom set by HP. Accordingly, the driver date is 10/29/2018 and driver version is 20.19.15.5063. So if have any other thought I appreciate the assistance. Cheers...
