house66 0 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 So I would like to be able to have 2 local and 2 remote users. Would be a max of 3 at a time. And more like 1 local and 1 remote. Current Hardware Cpu i3 4340 Ram 8gb OS Windows 8 Would I be able to add a gpu. To get what I need and if so recommendations. Or gpu and 16gb of ram. Or should I start thinking about building.
mastrmind11 722 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 You will be fine with what you have. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-4340+%40+3.60GHz&id=2029
house66 0 Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 I must have my settings wrong because once two streams are active it starts having buffering issues.

(pegged cpu, etc?) what do the trancode logs tell you?
house66 0 Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 When transcoding one mpeg4 to h.264 the cpu hits 80%. Memory stays around 20% Im thinking a gpu would help. But im not 100% sure with what to go with.
Q-Droid 989 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 If you're looking strictly for video and not gaming then the entry level Radeon RX 400/500 cards should do the trick. An RX 550 can be had for around $80 US and should be equally capable for video (not gaming) as its bigger brothers. Check with others in the forum to make sure UVD and VCE are well supported for your platform.
house66 0 Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 (edited) Thank you mastrmind11 and Q-Droid Edited June 20, 2019 by house66
house66 0 Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 Thank you mastrmind11 and Q-Droid Ill look at that card.
Q-Droid 989 Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Before you go shopping though have you checked to make sure your hardware is being detected for transcoding? What you have now should be able to handle h.264. Is it 1080 or 4k content?
house66 0 Posted June 20, 2019 Author Posted June 20, 2019 720p and 1080p. its showing the cpu graphics transcoding. Ill double check tho.
