davesurfer 18 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 So in the last few months, I've noticed that when I copy TV episodes over to the HTPC, no metadata is created (no .nfo files created), thus they don't appear in Emby Theater. I have to manually go to the Metadata Manager and do a search for missing metadata for the .nfo files to populate. Everything works as it should when copying to the movie folders. The .nfo file gets created extremely fast even before the movie file is completely finished copying. How can I get my TV library to act like the Movies library and automatically create metadata when new content is added? Thanks!
Luke 42085 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Hi there, have you checked the settings for your tv library to ensure that internet metadata providers are enabled?
davesurfer 18 Posted June 19, 2019 Author Posted June 19, 2019 Yep they are enabled, here's a screen shot
Luke 42085 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Ok, please go over an example and attach the emby server log. thanks.
davesurfer 18 Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 Ok, so about 4:13 I copied over another episode video file and it hasn't created any metadata for it (.nfo file) yet. The file is S05E22.mkv copied into The Flash/Season 5 folder. Minutes earlier, I copied S04E11, 12,14, 15, 16, 17, 17 into the Supergirl/Season 4 folder as well. Please find the emby server logged attached. Thanks! embyserver.txt
davesurfer 18 Posted June 24, 2019 Author Posted June 24, 2019 Did you try running a library scan? I've done that before yes, it takes forever, and it does find missing metadata...because it takes so long I just go into the metadata browser and just manually do a scan on the folder with newly added content and find missing metadata. I just looked again right now and see this running anyways, probably the daily scheduled task or whatever, then the thumbnail thing "stopping":
Luke 42085 Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Have you enabled the realtime monitor for each of your emby libraries?
davesurfer 18 Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Have you enabled the realtime monitor for each of your emby libraries? Realtime monitoring is on for both libraries. Like I said, it was working fine before, there were no settings changes or nothing was toggled on or off.
Luke 42085 Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Currently the realtime monitor is not active when a scan is running. It's something we can look at improving, but based on your log example that looks to be the reason why.

It's something we can look at improving, but based on your log example that looks to be the reason why. So weird, but it's all working again for the TV folder. The only thing I've done in the last day is restart the PC that the server's on. But I've done that many times before without any difference. Also when looking for the realtime monitoring option I went to the TV library, selected Advanced options and made sure it was on, but changed nothing. Not sure why, but it's working lol. Finds the metadata super fast now.
