Multiple user's passwords not being remembered

Recommended Posts

So I have 2 seperate servers, and have passwords setup for different people in the family, problem is that when you go to switch servers it isn't remembering who you are and you have to pick your profile and then reenter your password all the time.

If you stay on the same server it isn't a problem it works great.

Also no issue on PC or iPhone.

Don't know what else to try, totally stumped....

Using the latest 1.7.21G

Hi.  This is by design.  If it weren't then, once you ever logged in on the device, anyone would be able to get back in as you without any security check.  That would make having a password kind of moot so, if that's what you want, then you can use the Easy PIN feature on the server to make it so that you don't need passwords on your local LAN.

Does that answer your question?

But since it has a remember password feature should it not do just that?

Also since I can switch servers on my phone and my Pc without entering password it makes sense that it is something more to do with the Android app.

It has a remember last user feature.  The option of whether or not to require a password pertains only to the setting of a default user to login with on the device.

This is actually an unintended behavior on those devices but it isn't all that harmful since they are primarily single-user devices whereas a TV is primarily a shared device.

Are you the developer?

Thanks

No disrespect just sometimes people give information meaning to help but not always accurate, that’s why I asked.

I will try and double check this tonight and see if it keeps me logged in.

Go to settings in Emby

Startup

Set start up behavior to automatically login as user

Set auto logoff timeout to never

Hopefully it keeps me logged in since I am the default and only user on this device. Mecool m8sl pro

So I tried settings above and still won’t log me in automatically however the other person using a Firestick doesn’t have this issue at all.

Can it be device/hardware related?

Okay, I think the issue here is that the app is only going to remember one login at a time since a server is actually a part of that.  So, when you switch servers, it is replacing the remembered information each time.

We can look into possibly having the app remember one user per server.

I imagine the reason this works for the other person isn't the different device but, rather, how they are connected.  If you use Emby Connect, it will only allow you to login as a specific user on each server so that has the side effect of behaving how you want.

Yes I asked and you are correct, so it depends on how access was enabled for the users.

I think if you could incorporate the ability to remember 1 user per server would be great. I would help test if this is doable to enable.
