Good day.. I have a question regarding Emby's refresh process. I know it refreshes the Emby guide data but does it also refresh the guide data if it comes from SD? Also, I downloaded the m3u list from my provider and Emby picks it up from the local HD. Does this also get refreshed by the same process or some other means? I think I know that the answer for the 2nd Q is that Emby does not refresh the m3u file but I just want to be certain I am understanding the process. Following that theory, I suppose if I use the URL as the TV Source instead of m3u tuner it would get refreshed/updated.

One last Q I find that restarting the server after making certain changes to either the m3u or EPG file Emby takes a considerable amount of time to complete. Should I just refresh when editing those files in stead of a restart? Thanks in advance and great proggy BTW!! Cheers...

It refreshes all of the guide data providers that you have configured.

Yes, the same process.

Thank you Luke for the response. So to be clear you are confirming that the m3u file I provided within the m3u tuner setup also gets updated during the process. If my provider added a stream or changed a stream it will get updated during the refresh process? So why is there an option to add the URL for the m3u file? Emby has a way to update either one? If so that is cool and actually works towards total control of the m3u file. BTW I just started using the Emby Guide data provider and it works extremely well. I switched to compare it to my SD data and I cannot see any difference which is awesome. When my sub ends in a few months with SD I will definitely just uses the native Emby data. Thanks!!! Cheers...

Yes that is correct.

So why is there an option to add the URL for the m3u file?

because you have to add the url to your m3u channel list to import it into emby in the first place.

That's because ultimately the data comes from the same place between those two options.
