Beav 18 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 I have several Studio Ghibli movies. Emby identifies them fine and pulls up the IMDB description in English. However, EMBY will show the Japanese cast and not the American one. How do I get EMBY to show the American cast, as the IMDB sites do for the films?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 You can't unless you are going to manually add the IMDB stars/Actor. As no information actually come directly from IMDB. Information will come from TMDB, TVDB, and/or OMDB https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/10515/cast?language=en-US not https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092067/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
Luke 42079 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 That is correct. Imdb is not an open and free data service, quite the opposite in fact. We're doing the best we can with data from MovieDb. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
Beav 18 Posted June 8, 2019 Author Posted June 8, 2019 (edited) Okay, I can accept that. Now this raises another question. Once I have manualy updated the cast how do I link them inside of emby? When I go to edit metadata for an actor there is no path field to input into ie /volume1/video/metadata/People/M/Mandy Patinkin. Without this field the other movies that an actor is in do not show up. Edited June 8, 2019 by Beav
Luke 42079 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 There is no path for people. All you need to do is edit the other movies and give them the and cast member. Please let us know if this helps.
Beav 18 Posted June 8, 2019 Author Posted June 8, 2019 this is what shows up when I edit the metadata of an actor that I did not manually input and this is what I get when I edit the metadata for an actor that I did manually put in And even after rescanning libraries the file does not link to show other movies that the actor is in. Any ideas on how to make it work?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 This is a change to how the server handles people going forward. If this were a new install none of your people metadata would have paths as the all reside in metadata\library now. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63331-how-to-backup-people-images-with-beta-going-onwards
dansblackcat 37 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) I very recently had the same problem. I did "sort of" stumble across a fix. I shut down my emby server I deleted the "library.db" file (you could probably just rename this to library.db.bak)? I then restarted the emby server and let it rescan and do its thing. When I realised that I had lost all my watched state data I replaced the newly created library.db file with the old one from the Recycle Bin. The two actors that I know had an issue are now fine and are linked to all shows and movies that they are in. Please back up your library.db file if you try this. I don't want to be responsible if it doesn't work. Edited June 10, 2019 by dansblackcat 1
Luke 42079 Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Ultimately we need to improve the editing UI so that you're not editing the actor name by hand, but rather by finding an existing one from the list to add to the movie. This way you're only typing in the name if it's a new actor not currently in your database. 2
