JohnVee 18 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Hi, new user here transitioning over from XBMC. I've been using Media Browser for a couple weeks now, and so far I'm very impressed! I really like the direction this software is heading, and will more then likely use this on my main HTPC. Right now I'm just using the web client to view my media away from home. Just have a quick question. Is there a way to hide a media folder on the main home screen? I'm trying to figure out how to hide the Collections tab. I only have 2, James Bond and Pixar's Short film collection. I'd rather just view them in the movies section, and not have a tab for them on the home screen. Thanks
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 You can't hide individual Media Folders at this time. In an upcoming release, you'll be able to collapse or hide all media folders on the home page.
JohnVee 18 Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Ah, ok great. Was looking all over trying to figure out how to do it. Thanks for the quick response.
ebr 16184 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Other than through normal means (PC etc.) I doubt we will have a way to hide individual media folders. This "Collections" folder is a special case though and we could probably have an option of whether or not to expose that item as a media folder. In the mean time, you could trick this using Parental Controls. Set the rating (custom or parental) to "XXX" for that media folder and set a max level on your user profile to "NC-17". And that folder will no longer show up. I don't think this will affect any other functionality - as long as you don't actually have any XXX content you want to be able to view.
JohnVee 18 Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Hi ebr, thanks for responding. I just tried the workaround with parental controls, and it indeed hides the Collections folder on the home screen. Unfortunately, it also hides those two collections when viewing the movies section. It's not a big deal really, just a nit pick thing. Having an option to hide it would be nice Thanks again
ebr 16184 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Shoot - I was afraid of that. Our Parental Controls are just too good .
ebr 16184 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 if you hide the folder using parental control you may end up not being able to see those collections. (I'm not sure). however - i do realize that not everybody wants to see it added to their menu, so I do plan to address that. Nobody reads anything... BTW - that is an inside joke among the devs. I'm not ragging on Luke... 1
JohnVee 18 Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 @ebr Haha, yeah you guys have done a great job with everything so far @@Luke that's great to hear, thank you. Keep up the great work guys. I'm really enjoying Media Browser! Everything is just so simple to set up.
