Several proposals

Hello everyone, I follow the emby project since its born, my emby server has about 10,000 movies and between series and others, more than 20,000 items. From my experience, I leave you a few things that I think it would be interesting to value.

1.- As a general rule, I usually order movies by date of addiction, to always see the most current ones first, but I have detected a problem if the film is in a collection. As the date of addiction of the collection, it is the date in which it was created, when a movie is added to an existing collection, the collection appears ordered by the creation date of the collection. Therefore, if the date of the collection is very old, the newly added film "disappears" from the list of films. It would be interesting to evaluate if when adding an item to a collection, the creation date of it would be updated.

2.- I remember that at the beginning, in each folder of an item, there was an xml file with the description of the item, for years it disappeared and although I activated the option in library, I do not see the file in the folder of the item. This is important for me, because sometimes I have to move a lot of movies or series from one hard disk to another and I find that if I do that, these movies or series are reidentified and the metadata is downloaded again. This will not be a problem with a movie, but if I move a lot, there can be a lot of identification error. Before if the xml file was in each folder of each item, simply when moving a folder from one disk to another, the item appeared again. Would there be a way to generate xml files again for existing items?

3.- Failure to include metadata that you already have in a movie file. For example, I remember that formerly in the file you could see the benefit of the movie, the cost, ... I think they are not downloaded anymore, but at least the original title of a movie I think it should be on the tab of a movie.

4.- It would also be interesting, some way to send a message to a user to see when logging in. I'm not talking about a messaging system, which would be incredible, but I would be able to warn, for example, about future maintenance stops, or to recommend a movie or just say hello to a user. Although there is the possibility of changing the message under the login, this is for all users and what I would like is to send a message to a specific user.

2. - we use nfo now.  If you enable that option  you will get metadata files saved with your media

 

3. - I believe there are already some feature requests to bring some of this back but we have to balance the amount of information with usability

 

4. - This is already possible via the "Branding" field
