kmott 0 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 (edited) hi there, I am a newbie to using Emby, but so far loving it. I have a ton of movies and here is the issue. movies from blu ray that were ripped to M4V and they play great. some of my movies are from DVD ripped to MP4 using magic DVD Ripper and they seem to have playback issues. it appears to be consistent at certain points in time in the movie but I cant figure any consistency regarding which MP4s have this issue and which ones don't. the movies become pixelated much like if I was streaming from Netflix and didn't have a good connection (but i do). I should be clear, bluray, no problems at all. dvd's some play just fine and some have this issue thanks! KM Edited June 3, 2019 by kmott

kmott 0 Posted June 11, 2019 Author Posted June 11, 2019 moving forward what is the 'best' format to rip these DVD to? read a blog that mp4 & h264 was most universal? one of the videos that im having issue with I am currently converting to mp4, 264 (dont know if it already is this), but worth a shot
ebr 16187 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 MKV is a little more flexible than mp4 and probably just as universal now.
Luke 42083 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 here goes nothing Hi, that is the ffmpeg log. Can you please attach the main embyserver log as well? Please attach the log file in it's original plain text format rather than pdf. Thanks !
Luke 42083 Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 @@kmott Since this is an avi file, I would suggest using our media convert feature. This can help you convert to mkv or mp4. You can learn more about this here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-423-emby-server-34-released/ Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
