david3663 29 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Ebr i seen you say something along the lines of the new internal player does not use full screen exclusive mode. Is that different from the normal internal player and if so could it introduce dropped frames or jerky playback? Reason i ask is compared to mpc-hc my playback seems kind of jerky i am using madvr and reclock in mpc-hc so maybe that is why it is so much smoother. Edited June 16, 2014 by david3663
ebr 16169 Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 And, if you compare MPC-HC to the internal player without the new interface?
ebr 16169 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Build 183 is up with some re-working of how skipping and seeking work with the new player interface. Hopefully, now it is more in-line with the standard WMC player but still offers enhanced functionality. Please see the modified usage guide for how the operations should work now and report any issues. Thx. This version should also fix the machine not sleeping after playback has ended. 1
techywarrior 689 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I actually had need to use the skip to seconds (only available at the time I did this last night) and it didn't work for me. FF/REW jumped the default time forward/back but entering a number then FF/REW did nothing. When I entered the number I saw it display in the right cornerish "skip 600 seconds..." but pressing the FF to make it happen just made the time disappear and the seek bar did not move. I was then able to just jump thru the chapters to get approximately where I needed. Once the new build hits beta I'll check again (and I'll also see if the pause issue happens after upgrade again).

Digging the updated skipping/seeking. I liked the chapter jumps, but I have to say I was fumbling around with it and I was also experiencing the repeating skip if I hit FF too quick as some others mentioned. I also like the onscreen notification after hitting a # that explains how to jump by seconds/minutes in that manner.
david3663 29 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 And, if you compare MPC-HC to the internal player without the new interface? I checked and yeah it seems the new internal player is about the same as wmc normal player.
ebr 16169 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Thanks. Chapter jumps are still possible with the channel up/down keys. However, I will be reversing the way they behave in the next release because, how it is now seemed backwards to me. I was expecting channel up to go forward in the video even though, mathematically, that is incorrect. So, I'm going to go with intuition instead of math . 2
Jasin 11 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Thank you for fixing the sleep issue. I actually didn't know it was MBC preventing it. I was going to reinstall Windows. Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk
Pancho 9 Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I am unsure if I just missed this but Is there a way in the new interface to toggle Subtitles On/Off (ex. MPC-HC by default uses the W key, or the MCE interface with the INFO/CAPTIONS option)? Playing an MKV (with a separate subtitle file), they are turned on by default. It would be helpful to have to the option to turn them on/off on the fly. Thanks. Pancho

Xzener 729 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 With most recent build, the full screen video backdrop issue has been fixed. Awesome work Ebr, keep it up. It's back with 187... This is a different PC though.
Gronnie 8 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 On one of my systems I have a multi-monitor setup. The normal WMC interface has no problems, but the new interface will not go away when I am moving the mouse, even if it is on another screen. 1
MrWebsmith 598 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 @@Gronnie yea..thats been reported in a thread in the support/mbc section, so youre not the only one seeing that. while eric is away i suppose your best bet is to disable the new interface on that system until it can be fixed 1

That's how I had handled it, but the new interface is so nice, wanted to make sure it had been reported so I can eventually use it.

ebr 16169 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Man that went quick, and I didn't even go! Yes, it was too quick. But it was an incredible time while it lasted... 2
ebr 16169 Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Yep - we caught lots of huge Rainbows as well as Grayling, Char, Lake Trout and Salmon. Was my 16th birthday present to my Son and we had a fantastic time. 1
Sharmy 9 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 ebr - welcome back! Latest build working well - nice to have RAL working for channels. Any chance of investigating why the New Player Interface blocks the WMC screensaver from kicking in? Thanks in advance. Sharmy
