Hi ebr, I use Mouse Without Borders http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35460 on my HTPC and normally have no issues with it but for some reason your new interface pops up every minute on it's own, the mouse cursor doesn't appear. I exited MWB on the other PC it's on (this one) and it stopped. I guess there's some sort of polling going on in the MWB software that your interface sees as a mouse movement.

Also, the HTPC tried to go to sleep while watching a film tonight which it never used to do.

Cheers

ebr,

I have an issue with the latest build in that if you have a theme video  for either a tv serires or movie, when entering that item the theme video plays in full screen and you cannot see the season folders or movie details until you press stop.

Previously before this build it used to play in the background.

I have made a little video of what I mean, sorry about the quality, taken from my phone.

The New Internal Player Interface doesn't seem to work with trailers.

Playing a movie is fine, but the trailer of the same movie has the default WMC interface.

Not sure what I can do about this.  I'm watching for mouse or keyboard activity to produce the overlay.  If something on the machine is causing that activity I don't know how I could discern that it isn't real.

Do you know how the theme videos are being played?  Is the source in the public repo?

This is by design right now.  Local trailers are played directly as just files so we don't have any information on them to put in our fancy new overlay.

Yeah it's a strange one as nothing else (screensavers or WMC own timeline) do it. It's defo Mouse Without Borders as I exited/restarted twice to make sure. I'll delve a little further in the settings tonight to see if anything jumps out at me... like your interface, boom boom!

I am using radeons plugins and the MBC plugin is configured via the configurator. They are being played via the internal player.

I went back to version 163 on my main HTPC and they play in the background as normal,so it is definitely something with the dev version. Also if only a theme song is present the screen is black until you either stop it or it finishes playing and then you see the season folders as with the theme videos.

I meant exactly how as in the code...

These items may need to have their own playable item type now (probably how they should have been done anyway) to make sure they don't go full screen and also don't play in the custom interface.

If the code is somewhere I can see it then I can take a look.

Ok, tried various options in Mouse Without Borders but nothing stops it happening. It is defo mouse/key related though, if I put WMC in window mode and do other stuff on the HTPC the new overlay stays on top. WMC itself doesn't do this, you can move about on the PC without WMCs own button bar at bottom appearing.

So are you looking for ANY mouse movement on the PC and not just within the WMC window?

I should add that this is obviously not super important as I can exit MWB on my PC if I'm using MBC but would be cool if both played nicely together.

Maybe @@radeon or @@Cheesegeezer will need to look at it.

I actually am telling the system to restrict reports to the ehshell process.  However, I'm still getting called on any mouse or keyboard activity.  So, either something is wrong with that restriction or WMC is doing something funny.

I haven't been too worried about that as 95% of people using MBC will have it in full screen.

Yeah I'm one of the 95%, I only tested it that way to confirm it that it was capturing any movement or key press. MWB on both PCs obviously 'check in' with each other every minute which 'something' sees as a movement, but not enough to cause WMC to show the mouse cursor like you actually did do something

Anyway, don't want to cause extra work as you've enough to do. I'll just stop MWB running at start on my work PC and start only when needed.

Build 170:

  • Fix not going full screen when new interface disabled
  • Eliminate 404 errors on server when looking for IBN images
  • Add option to disable skip forward and back due to conflict with Media Control

Hi,

I'm running 2 x HTPC with MBC .170 at the moment and have a weird problem on one of them.

First one is an Asus Atom / ION combo board running Windows 7 x86 and works as expected. The second is a Intel i3 (Ivybridge) windows 8.1 x64 machine that doesn't seem to keep the window in focus when using the new interface skin. The skin pops up at the beginning of playing and disappears as expected; but after 2 minutes my screensaver (MCE photo one) kicks in with the video still playing.

Both the machines are setup in the same way (screensave / MBC combo). If I turn off the new interface it doesn't happen....

Does MBC play the trailers via the new way to download them as it still seems to be streaming from the web as I get buffering at the start.

Also when playing trailers with the new interface i only get a black screen and audio only.It does not happen if you uncheck the new interface.

MBC still doesn't understand Channels.  I have to write a whole new set of code for those and haven't yet.  Therefore, you won't get any of the channel features until I do.  Downloading is a channel feature.

Trailers were working fine for me yesterday.  I'll have to test again today to see if something else has changed.

Apparently, using my new player interface isn't telling Windows that there is activity like it does when video is truly full screen.  I'll have to see what I can do to make that work properly.

It seems that this behavior (as you discovered with your two machines) is either hardware or other configuration dependent as none of my systems have the problem.

I am putting in some code that should prevent the screen saver from activating and the machine from sleeping while video is playing but I can't be sure it works properly since my systems don't have the issue.  So, you guys will have to report back if the problem is solved with the next release.

Trailers, local and online, are working OK here under .170.

Just a curious question: Why do local trailers play with the WMC overlay, but online trailers play with your new overlay ??

Isn't there more information about local trailers than the online ones ??

TIA.

Actually, there isn't.  The online trailers are actual items that are known about by the server and have metadata associated with them.  The local trailers are played as straight files by MBC so we don't have "item" information on them.

With some more work, I can make it have that information but I have to derive it from the parent movie and that just isn't in place right now.  Local trailer playback is still operating exactly like it did in the MB 2 days and I haven't re-worked it.

Hi ebr,

Is there any diagnostics or logs I could send / use to try and see what might be causing the problem? As I say the machine that exhibits the problem doesn't do it when the new interface is switched off. Both have Klite codec pack on and configured to use the same codecs.
