Any chance of investigating why the New Player Interface blocks the WMC screensaver from kicking in?

When?

It blocks it on purpose during playback.

189 is up.

  • Try to fix number entry on Xbox
  • Remove backdrop rotation restriction while playing video
  • Fix local/remote determination
  • Zoom modes in custom player interface

Sorry - should have been clearer.

Screensaver is blocked during playback when paused.

That is by design.  If you are playing something, we don't want the screen saver to kick in.

Why are you pausing something for so long?  Why not just stop it?

Yes - stopping makes sense. But then there is the Wife factor... (And, like you, we are a plasma household. Our older Pioneer display does not like still images. The newer Pioneer display is not as sensitive.)

The native WMC player treats paused as idle. Can this not be replicated in the New Player interface?

@@ebr, Wmc recognizes CTRL + SHIFT + Z as the aspect ratio toggle shortcut. Could you set this shortcut to toggle the aspect ratio with the new player interface? I would like to set the shortcut on a remote for this.

Yup.

Build 190 is up.

  • Fix for server auth change
  • Add weather configuration
  • ctl-sft-z toggles zoom mode in new player interface

If you are on dev server releases you are gonna need this MBC update.

Now, I'm gonna go party.  Happy 4th Yanks!

Working fine here and it sounds like a Media Center issue to me. Try  sfc /scannow in command prompt.

Did that and passed with flying colours, this only started when I installed 190.

Uninstalled that version and back to beta and all fine.

Maybe the server needs updating.

Wake on lan no longer works. I switched to the release and it still didn't work. I checked the configuration and it had the incorrect Mac ID. I changed it to the correct ID and it worked but then it changed again. It was working fine for a long time.

Edit. Figured out the problem. MBC is reading the mac from my Bluetooth adapter and not the network adapter. The Bluetooth has no connections.

MBC doesn't read it, the server does and the only thing we can do is get the first one.  We have no idea which one is actually in use.

What are you actually doing when it crashes?  The event error is meaningless - is there another one around the same time?  Could be marked informational.

You are using Square and it looks like it is trying to count up all media inside of all installed channels and that could be a performance issue but shouldn't cause a crash.

I went ahead and disabled it since I don't use Bluetooth network. I just added it not too long ago.

Everything is back to working fine.

I was trying to watch a few trailers at the time and then the crash.Found a new log which is attached.

Unfortunately, that error doesn't help either.  Looks like something deep inside WMC is crashing.

Is it only on trailers?  Have you tried any real local content?

What about with other themes?

Posted

Look at all the events in the event log around that time - even informational ones.  Do any of them list an Exception type?

Posted

Nope there is no log with an exception type but the error code in the wmc log (e053534f) from what I have read points to a soft stack oveflow in .net with uncontrolled recursion.

Don't know if any of that helps you as I don't know what any of that means as I have no idea of coding at all.

Cheers

Yeah, seeing what square was trying to do with the channels made me think it might be something like that.  I've done something in the core to try and arrest what square is trying to do with the channels.  We'll see if you still have this problem with the next dev release.

Build 191 is up:

  • Stop themes from trying to count channel media
  • Fix chapters and actors not loading properly
  • Option to not show overlay on mouse movement
  • Allow screensaver/sleep on extended pause
  • Recognize more local IP ranges

Yogi - give your trailer playback a try now and see if anything is different.
