Channel Numbers

Now I know the changing of Channel numbers has been (a long time) comming but is there anyway to simply have the channels listed by the associated channel number from the emby epg data and just display it that was as opposed to whatever channel number is pulled in the m3u data?

Not currently. The general feedback we've seen is that users have not wanted their original channel numbers replaced so that's why we don't do that.

Will it ever be possible to maybe manually change the channel number in the Map Channels screen?

I would think so, yes.

I know this doesn't help with your specific problem, but I recently got the devs of Xtream Editor to promise to support the "tvg-chno" tag which will allow you to control channel numbers. They said it should be ready by end of June.

I've got around the emby limitation by using xteve to change all the channel numbers.works like a charm

Yeah, I use it as well. But I also use xtream. Would be nice to not need xteve though. I am looking forward to being able to just do the numbers in xtream.

Hey there I use a proggy called Tantrum IPTV Editor. Works wonders for me. You have almost complete control for channel management. I too am waiting on the Emby CM tool but for now this is what I use to change numbers, number as I want, change groups, create groups, delete groups and an assortment of other things.

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-chno="005" tvg-id="5starmax.us" tvg-name="5 StarMax" tvg-logo="c:\icons\5MAXHD.png" group-title="USA MOVIE NETWORKS",5 StarMax

Cheers...

Here is a sample of my WIP. Next is to center or right justify the channel numbers. Cheers

Xtream Editor finally supports the "tvc-chno" tag. It is automatic based on the list order.

I noticed that the other day, but the channel numbers start at 1, which is a problem for me because I also use another EPG data provider and the xstream channels get listed above them.  My solution was to download the m3u file and renumber them in the file and upload it to the Emby server.  They have an ordering tag in the channel editor where you can provide channel numbers, but its never worked.

I know this topic is a few months old, but didn't want to create a new thread dealing with channel numbers.

Simple question, Any way to remove the channel numbers altogether? I would also like to remove the logo and replace with my own text. I know I can create a jpg for each channel, but that is a lot of work. But the channel numbers are totally useless to me as there is no way to know what the channel is from those numbers.

Even If I could put something like a dash or colon in the number that would be helpful. But would like an option to not display the channel numbers at all. That cannot be too difficult to do since it is just taking away a field. Most other guide apps allow the channel numbers to be hidden.

Currently no but I agree that depending on your source you may not have a need for channel numbers.

I never actually cared about the numbers themselves. It was just that controlling the channel number allowed me to have the channels listed in the order I wanted.

I can't remember where but I found a huge pack of channel icons once. Maybe something like that would be useful to you.

Thanks, I got a huge pack from SD. But I will most likely use personalized icons for my most watched channels with the provider info so I can have multiple of the same channels referenced in the guide

With IPTV the channel numbers have no real reference and are not needed. Can I propose this feature for a future release?
