jhoff80 94 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 A movie of mine is showing under the SD filter, despite being 960x720. It reads the resolution right in Media Info though: I assume maybe it's going by the horizontal resolution when applying that filter or something, I don't know.
techywarrior 689 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) HD tag is applied to files with a minimum width of 1280. I had the same issue before. Edited May 21, 2014 by techywarrior 1
ebr 16169 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 It should be 1200 to give a little wiggle room but, yes, we key off of the horizontal resolution because the vertical resolution will vary with aspect ratio.
Danee 57 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Ok, but shouldn't the aspect ratio be used as a factor as well to detirmine if something should be labelled HD or not? 960x720 at 4:3 is HD, and so is 1280x528 at 2,4:1
ebr 16169 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Actually, I think the technical definition of HD is at least a 16x9 aspect ratio as well. What content do you have that is 720 and 4:3?
Danee 57 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I don't, the the topic starter has, according to his screenshot. I'm not sure about the 16:9 requirement, early (plasma) HD televisions actualy used 1024x768 and streched it to 16:9 (non-square pixels) and were sold as HD.
