Video folders often go offline and I dont know why

HI guys

Im running MB3 classic within media centre (Windows 7)

All my videos are stored in folders on my Synology NAS.

Folders are simply organised such as Movies, TV Shows, and so forth.

Most of the time it all works fine, but every now and then I find that the video content is showing as being "offline".

During these times, the NAS is operating just fine, I can access the files on the NAS without issue.

I can only assume I have set something up wrong for the folders to randomly decide they are offline.

Can anyone assist with what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks

Do you have your NAS scheduled to turn on and off at set times, or do you manually turn it on and off?

If you do, then it's possible that the MB server is scanning for new content whilst your NAS is off, and it will mark your collections as being offline.

This was happening to me as well - I ended up changing the schedule for new content scans to only occur at times that my NAS was definitely on.

See this tutorial about schedules tasks for details on how to change a schedule.

Appreciate the response Adrian, but in my instance no, I have my NAS set to never shut down.

How about the server itself - does it ever go to sleep?  If so, it is possible the start up scan is occurring before the network has re-initialized so it cannot get to your NAS.

Thanks for the suggestion, I dont believe the server should go to sleep, the PC is set to be on 24/7, would there be a setting I should be looking for within the server software?

Check that the hard drives in the server and nas don't go to sleep

Take a look in the energy settings of your server OS. There is an option what should be done after an amount of time if the system is in idle state. You should set it to "always on".
