beardedsith 0 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I'm an Emby Premiere owner who typically uses Emby through the web app (Chrome). Occasionally it locks up and refuses to play so I started trying to use the Windows Appo, Emby Theater. The only problem with Emby Theater is no matter the volume level I set on my computer the video plays back at MAX volume. I lower my speakers to the lowest possible level, lower Windows volume to the lowest possible, and lower Emby Theater to the lowest possible, yet the volume is always at MAX volume. The only thing (computer, Emby Theater, physical speakers) that changes the volume is when one of those is muted. In which case the volume mutes. So, in short, it's either MAX volume or it's muted. This happens on EVERY media file. I have no clue what to do, what to check, or what to even try. I'll include my server logs but I'm not sure what help they'd be. Emby.txt EmbyLastPlay.txt
Luke 42078 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Hi there, have you tried using the volume control inside the app?
beardedsith 0 Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Hi there, have you tried using the volume control inside the app? Yes. That has the same effect. And don't bitstreaming the audio. How do I do/not do that?
Guest asrequested Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 If you haven't enabled it, then you're probably fine. Where did you get the app, from? Are you using this one? https://emby.media/emby-theater.html

Luke 42078 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 So if the store app is doing audio passthrough of the original audio stream, then you won't be able to change the volume in the app or in windows and you''ll have to change it using your audio equipment (or tv remote if it's connected directly to the tv). You'll probably ask why this is the case, that's just the way audio passthrough works. It's generally the most desirable way to play but it does come with that requirement. 1
beardedsith 0 Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Is there a way to avoid that audio passthrough? On my TV, it wouldn't be an issue - but on my computer, it's unwatchable.
Luke 42078 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 The desktop app has a better video player that gives you more control in the app's settings. For the store app, the only way to do this would be to lower the in-app quality setting to force it to transcode. You may not like that.
