May I downgrade from 4.2.0.6 to 4.1 without problems?

Hey there,

just a quick question, where I wasn't able to find a straight-forward answer to it. Somebody told me that the version numbers should be the same in order to safely downgrade (e.g. both stable and beta 4.2.x.x.), but I just set up a brand new server with 4.2.0.4 from scratch and what I didn't know was, that the movie theme songs/videos plug-ins don't work (yet) with it.

As this is one of my most desired features and one of my most valuable (personally) reason to prefer Emby over other home streaming services (You know who I'm talking about ^^), I'd really love (!) to have that working again and, therefore, downgrade to 4.1.x.x., where these plug-ins are still working.

Tl;dr :D : Can I safely downgrade from 4.2.0.6. to 4.1.1.0. without crushing my server set-up? I'd really love to. Maybe some Emby super Sayan might have a simple answer for my donkey-ish technology understandings ^^

Love y'all! Emby > anything!

I just did exactly that and I had no problems and everything is working well. However it is not recommended as there might have been database changes that could cause problems or even database corruption.

I took the chance as the worst that could happen was that I could have to remove Emby completely and reinstall. That would be inconvenient but not a disaster so I went ahead and used Windows to remove the beta without wiping any Emby data and then installed the stable.

I guess I got lucky but everything is working well.

Just as a disclaimer I do NOT use the DVR functionality or remote access so I do not know if those would be impacted.

Good luck if you decide to roll the dice.

Hey there @@Gilgamesh_48. Thank you so much for your input. I will just try it and I see it the same like you. Worst thing that can happen is to have another fresh install, which is, like you said, inconvenient but not a disaster. You were also the kind guy who gave me the other hint on another thread, so thank you very much my man for bearing with me! I'll report if I stumble upon issues :) Thanks bud!

So I tried it again and it was a little confusing, because neither local, nor remote access worked. Idk what happened there but this at least is working again. However, I can't seem to get the Theme videos/songs to work. Do you have any idea? I re-installed the plug-ins but they're not fetching the already existing themes (the ones it put into the media folders before I reinstalled the entire server)
