Multiple video versions in different libraries are updating each other

Scenario:

/movies/Mad Max Fury Road.mkv -> in library "movies"

/hdr-movies/Mad Max Fury Road - HDR.mkv -> in library "HDR"

So both movies are not stored in the same folder or in the same library and Emby should handle them completely unique.

But if I mark one of them watched/unwatched  - or just start a movie to create a resume state - it will be updated to both items?

Example screenshot:

In this case both movies where marked as watched and I've started the HDR one right out of the HDR library and stopped it in the middle. As you can see the one of the "movie" library gets the same resume point.

Edit:

Debug log attached that captures the issue

yes because emby uses the same MovieDb id for both movies - as they are the same - for watched data etc - always been like this

rather than the internal db id

It should use the internal one, because the movies can have different durations (theatre cut, extended cut, directors cut, supder duper cut, etc).

They also can be complete "different" movies like Apocalypse Now and Apocalypse Now Redux.

Edit:

It's okay to handle it like this if they are stored in the same library + movie path. But for complete different ones it feels wrong :)

well - if they did that then all watched data would be lost on a library rebuild so its not that simple

either way its a limitation that needs removing/correcting

Yea it's something that needs review as it's not so simple to change. Thanks.
