simonselmer 27 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I prefer and therefore request that the skip / forwarding function acts more as in MediaPortal. So instead of as now in Emby, I can only skip forward by 30 seconds at a time, every time I press my right-button on my remote, on MediaPortal when pressing right-button 1st time - skips 15 seconds 2nd time - 30 seconds 3rd time - 1 minute 4th time - 3 minutes 5th time - 5 minutes then 10, 15, 30, 60 minutes MediaPortal waits 1-2 seconds, to see how many times you press the right-button, before jumping forward to the whished time. I'm not sure if I remember them totally correctly, but the point is that if I want to jump 1 hour into a movie, right now that take A LOT of pressing on the right-button. 1

Or use Chapters and do it in few clicks.
Tremas 199 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I agree that there improvements could be made to skipping, and I eventually liked the mediaportal method when I used it, but if I remember there was quite a bit of discussion on the MP forums from people who hated it. The idea is good but I don’t think they implemented it well. Because it waits for you to complete inputs before skipping, many people (like my wife) would think it wasn’t working and keep pressing until it finally just skipped all the way to the end of the video leaving the user thinking something crashed. There were ways to tune the skip values but in my experience it took a lot of tweaking and was not clear or discoverable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 No I really don’t like this. It’s one of the core reasons why I’ve never used kodi unless as a last resort
jasonmcroy 316 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 In Kodi you can adjust this though and turn it completely off, change how big of a jump you can do, etc. IF it were implemented in Emby it would have to be adjustable or have the ability to turn it off completely. I always change the behavior in Kodi to only skip 30 fwd and 10 back. I agree it's a cumbersome idea to have that behavior in general though.
clarkss12 304 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) How about a button for "slow motion". While watching a sporting event, it would be nice to watch a "play" in slow speed to see exactly what happened. As I recall, my PAL DVR had that function. Edit: Perfect example would have been used to see what disqualified the winner of the Kentucky Derby....... Sorry, If I hijacked this thread. Edited May 15, 2019 by clarkss12
ebr 16184 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I think this will be moot with our new visual seeking with thumbs as you can just go exactly where you want. 2

Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Actually I agree that slow motion and fast motion would be far more beneficial that this request
