I’ve set up the Emby server on my Mac mini but can’t figure a way to play any plugins from the plugin folder. I’ve tried using a Roku and Apple TV but there’s no way to play plugins they only show in plugins folder. It looks like I need move the plugins to the library but how?

Hi athurlow,

Plugins are not ment to be played as media.

They are libraries for the server to add functionality.

For instance, a subtitle plugin will allow the server to gather appropriate subtitles for your media to display while you are watching it.

Certain plugins may add "channels" to your home screen for things like trailers, others may add scheduled tasks to the server.

Certain plugins are only available for premier users, but most are available to use freely.

I hope this helps.

The music plugins are for gathering metadata for your music library. Artist, album and song info. This is gathered during a library refresh under scheduled tasks.

The podcast plugin is a channel plugin (from what I gather).

Someone else may have to chime in, but it should create a library on your home page called "podcasts" where you would find a list of podcasts you have added from the plugin configuration.

All plugin configurations (if they have configurations, because some do not need it) can be accessed by right clicking the plugin image in your catalog and selecting "settings".

I’ve added a few podcasts to the podcast plugin, but I’m unable to find a way to play them. There not showing up on the Roku or Apple TV.

So on the home screen under "My Media" you should see "Movies", "TV Shows", etc. You should see "Podcasts" listed there.

Is that channel listed in the web browser client?

The only thing I have on my home screen is my media and under that a folder called playlists. I don’t have movies or tv shows. Are there any videos to help set it up.

After you have finished the settings in the plugin configuration, go to scheduled tasks and press the "refresh internet channels".

See if that helps

I tried that, no luck. I’m sure it’s something simple and I can’t figure it out.

Hey @@athurlow are you an emby supporter? Did you purchase a premiere package for emby?

The podcast plugin will only work for premiere members.

I’ve paid for a month of Emby premiere and still no plugins. I see the plugins in the dashboard under my plugins. When I use the Roku or Apple TV I have the home screen of playlists and live tv but no plugins How do I move the my plugins folder to the home screen.

Cinema mode, trailers, podcasts and all the ones that came in my plugins.

Did you configure the podcasts plugin with podcast feeds?

Did you check the access settings for your emby users to make sure they are granted access to the plugin content?

The only thing I find under access settings under users is library access, I don’t have anything else.
