I want to change several genres of movies to another hard disk and how I have to do so that emby server does not modify the metatada of the movies and respects the genres of movies even if they change the name of the unit as for example of F: / to H: /

Emby currently would have to remove the item from the database and re-add it.  As for metadata if you do not save metadata with media then the database metadata would be lost when it gets removed.  If you have metadata with media the it will be read.

There are a few topics around the have done this by manually editing the database.

Thanks for the reply

In emby there is the option to save the metadata with the media? Where?

In the settings for each library.

Not specific to Emby but, while you are moving things around I urge you to investigate drive pooling solutions.  They will make questions like this obsolete for you :).

I use StableBit's DrivePool and I have added drives to my computer and the included them in my pool and I have never had any kind of path problems. (I am up to nearly 60tb at this time)There are numerous other solutions as well.

I have even had a case where the serving computer's motherboard failed and all I had to do was get a new computer and attach all the drives to it (They are all external USB drives) and install the DrivePool software and I was up and running in very little time as DrivePool recognized the pool on the drives and all I needed to do was make sure the correct drive letter got assigned to the pool. Pooling of drives makes maintenance a LOT easier.

Excuse my English, but I am Spanish and translate it with Google.

I have to do this:

1.-Group all the disk with the program StableBit's DrivePool (I also include C: \ even if it is an SSD unit and I have installed the S.O.?) Or group them without the unit C: \?

2.-I remove the disk name F: \ from the group that I want to replace and the program saves its files in the group and empties the disk name F:\?

3.- Then uninstall the disk F:\ and install the new one?

4.-The new disc is 8 Tb.

5.-After the new disk I join it with the rest? and the program formats it directly without having to do it before? converts it into a GTP disk "to be more than 2 tb"?

6.-Ready?

A doubt:

The discs I have shared on my network and Emby has each one its network path, then, the new disk before grouping it first I have to share it on the network? but as I believe that the files are distributed in the space of the group, it is not necessary to register the new network disk or remove the previous disk from the emby, right?

penultimate question:
The program says this:
"When a drive is removed from the pool, StableBit DrivePool will move all of the unprotected pooled files stored on it to a different drive that's part of the pool."

It means that if I delete the disk F: \, I want to replace, it passes its files to the group and remains empty and then I can mount the new unit and add it to the group and it is not necessary to touch Emby.?

In theory that is correct, as long as the paths to the files and folders all remain the same.

Thank you for answering.

For the moment I still did not do anything, it's all I want to do in a few days.

From what you say I have some doubts:

1.-It would be better to group the disks but leave unclustered disk c (SSD drive) where the operating system is, yes or no?
2.-The data that are in the group created, are distributed throughout the set of space created (would be the sum of the spaces of each disk) can be spread over several discs, yes or no?
3.-If I uninstall the disk with the program, it empties it and distributes its data in the space of the created set, but logically, its routes will be broken because the disk F: / is no longer there, yes or no?

3.-If so, then before grouping the new disk I would have to assign the routes again in Emby (including the network routes) of the new disk with the data I had in the disk that I want to uninstall?

for example:

disk to uninstall F: \ Western
                                 Thriller
                                TV Series
I'd have to disk to be installed, assuming you change the name of the unit to H: \ Western
                                                                                                                                 Thriller
                                                                                                                                 TV Series

So, would I have to change the Emby route to the new disk, yes or no?

In short, would I have to continue applying emby routes to any new disk that I have to install, yes or no?

Then the program only distributes the data for the created space but it works well if before the paths with emby were created in each physical disk, yes or no?

In short, I would work well taking advantage of the entire space of each disc, such as:
The physical drive of D: \ containing the Comedy folder, only has 2 GB of space left and with this program I could add a 3 GB movie to the comedy folder because I would distribute it
in the set created by the program, yes or no?

Sorry for the mess I'm saying, but I want to keep it clear and not spoil the metadata, which I've been using for many years.

Everything could be simplified, if I cancel the emby routes with each physical disk that I have and assign the route to the whole group formed by the program with the name, for example K, and so I would not have to assign the emby route every time I install a new hard drive or have problems uninstalling a disk because the emby routes are assigned to the group k, can it be that way?

Were you able to add the hard drive?
