KMBanana 116 Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 (edited) Occasionally, maybe for 1/25 items Emby will not have the runtime listed and it causes some strange issues. It's easiest to identify the items if you see them playing in the Emby dashboard without a runtime listed or if the item lacks the "Ends at X:XX". For affected videos they will be marked as complete if you watch them for any length of time. Going to the item and searching for missing metadata resolves it. On the Emby Dashboard it will look like this. This item is direct playing and plays completely normally. You can skip around the video and the progress bar will correctly identify and correspond to the correct time in the video. For an item that needs to transcode though things get weirder. The video will still play, but the progress bar won't match up correctly with the runtime, but will "grow" as the server transcodes it. It's a little tough to explain so I made a .gif. https://i.imgur.com/TWvEI1X.gifv I can search for the corresponding emby server log for when these example files were imported but is there a way to submit them privately? They contain IP information of myself, friends and family. Edit: I'm using the latest stable emby docker container and no hardware transcoding. Edited May 10, 2019 by KMBanana
KMBanana 116 Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 Been searching for a common cause; Among all the affected files I've found so far all of them have had embedded subtitles, so anime files like my two examples above are disproportionately affected. It's still works most of the time, the 1/25 I gave originally still feels like a good ballpark estimate- just only among files with embedded subs.
Luke 42086 Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Hi there, try refreshing metadata on some of these and see if that helps pull in a runtime. Thanks.
KMBanana 116 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 Searching for missing metadata will fix it so it's not a very urgent issue, just thought I'd bring it to your attention since it's intermittent.
