Drop in bans from script kiddies on my WAN

So I finally got around to incorporating pihole and cloudflare resolver into my setup and I've noticed a significant drop off on bans handed out by fail2ban.  I can't confirm the correlation, but I'd get mid to high double digit bans per day via my sshd channel, and a couple per day via 443 but since I added this to my infra I see single to low double digit bans overall (as of now, I've banned 4 in 24 hrs).  Since IP ranges are easily guessed/incremented, I wonder whether the ad networks and/or trackers have anything to with selling IP activity.  Coincidence maybe?  Food for thought.
