bravoland 1 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 i have one folder in a library called KID TV setup as Mixed Content when i log into EMBY as myself i can browse the TV Shows and See the seasons. when i log into EMBY as one of the USERS i have setup for my Kids when we go into any show that has Seasons there is no option under Seasons to select anything i don't see any settings under USERS that would prevent this. any clues?
Luke 42085 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Hi there, what are the differences in permissions between the users?
bravoland 1 Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 Hey Luke, i was able to identify the problem ...perhaps you can help me solve it i have a root folder called TV ARCHIVE inside that folder is a bunch of sub catagories like HISTORY,NATURE etc.. one of those is KID TV so i have one library setup for TV ARCHIVE C:\TV archive however i don't want my young kids to have access to ALL the Subfolders in there just the KID TV Subfolder so i created another Library and point it to the Subfolder called Kid TV. C:\TV Archive\Kid TV if i just give them access to the KID TV Library the Seasons don't show. if i go ahead and give them access to the TV archive as well then seasons do show but i don't want them to have access to all that. is there a way to accomplish this?
Luke 42085 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 so i created another Library and point it to the Subfolder called Kid TV. C:\TV Archive\Kid TV Hi, you can't do this, you need to just have one library at the top, or several libraries for each of the sub-folders. But you could just do the one library at the top and then take advantage of user access permissions to restrict sub-folder access for certain users. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
bravoland 1 Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Hey Luke i am not finding a place to restrict sub-folder access for certain users. where is that at? i only show being able to select or unselect
Happy2Play 9784 Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Hey Luke i am not finding a place to restrict sub-folder access for certain users. where is that at? i only show being able to select or unselect The system is currently not designed that way. As only library folders are selectable, so your attached folders would have to reflect the access you are trying to apply. Example .
bravoland 1 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 (edited) ok i understand that. the problem when i break down and put all subfolders as a different source is i lose the subfolder layout currently C:\TV archive as the one source shows all the subfolders and i can go into one of them if i setup TV archive with multiple sources C:\tvarchive\kidtv c:\tvarchive\science etc etc then when i click on TV archive it just shows all the shows mixed together. anyway to sort to keep the sources seperate? Luke 42085 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 then when i click on TV archive it just shows all the shows mixed together. anyway to sort to keep the sources seperate? yes, but only in the Folders tab of the TV library. Did you see that?
bravoland 1 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 i know what you are talking about i remember seeing the folders tab but i dont' see it know. is there a setting i might have checked that turned off seeing the folder tab?
Luke 42085 Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 Actually you'd have to use the TV content type for that instead of mixed. When you click on the TV library, there would be a Folders sub-section.
