neik 873 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Hi there, my parents, my sister and I we all have our own FireTV Stick with our personal user. In the living room we have an Android box which also has its own user. Instead of always using the remote control of the Android box we wanted to use the mobile apps (Android or iOS) and connect it to the Android box to control it but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be that easy. The only working solution I found was activating "Allow remote control of other users" which included the ability to control every device -> not wanted! I tried then to only grant access to our personal devices (FTVS + mobile) + the Android box in the living room but this doesn't seem to have any impact on the remote control function. Am I doing this wrong or does Emby simply not support what I want? Hope the explanation is somehow clear if not then let me know. Thanks!
Solution Luke 42086 Posted May 5, 2019 Solution Posted May 5, 2019 If you use device access to limit the devices a user can access, then this will also limit the ones they can remote control.
neik 873 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 I would have sworn I tried that but apparently I did something wrong as it worked now. Thanks Luke!
neik 873 Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 @@Luke, an observation I made: If I use my mobile to remote control the "central" device in the living room my personal user does not get updated. Example: An episode that I watch this way does not get marked as watched on my user, only on the "central" user. Is this something that can be improved?
Luke 42086 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 Well if it's two different users then that is expected behavior.
neik 873 Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 Sure, but woudln't it make sense to adapt it? If I remote control the other user to watch a movie / episode wouldn't it make sense to have it marked as watched on the remote user as well and mark it on both?
neik 873 Posted May 13, 2019 Author Posted May 13, 2019 (edited) I suppose it is something to consider. Thanks Luke! Just one more questin: Is an "official" feature request needed? Edited May 13, 2019 by neik
