dcxmurphy 2 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Hey, I just saw what the guide looks like on Apple TV, and it looks really great. Is there any possibility to make that sort of layout for Android TV? It looks a look more easy to use and better looking than the current TV guide. Are you guys planning a more modern redesign anytime soon?
Luke 42078 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Hi, can you be more specific about what you would like to see? Thanks !
dcxmurphy 2 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 Hi sorry I wasn't specific I was in a rush. What I was referring to was the guide, where I see each listing has its artwork in the grid, rather than just the name of the show like a traditional cable grid guide. Also the design (font, colours, shaping, etc) seems a lot more modern, and the UI seems more fluent than on the Android TV. I understand you guys have matched the aesthetic with tvOS, but you could also do the same with Android TV to match Google's whole theme. Just a suggestion I know y'all have a crapton on your plate, but Android TV is an ever growing platform so it would be good to get the client as great as possible.
ebr 16182 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Hi. I'm still not sure exactly what you are asking for since Apple TV doesn't have a grid-style guide right now. Is it possible for you to show us some screen shots? Thanks.
dcxmurphy 2 Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Hi, this is what I meant. I probably used the wrong word when I said "grid" but it would be really cool if there was an option to see the listings on each channel with the poster artwork (like in this image except portrait images as these images seem to be cutting out portions of the poster). Even something very similar to the "On Now" tab but instead of "episodes" and "movies" there are the different channels like in the image below. Also while I'm here I have a question. When I press the up button on my remote I get this cool channel switching feature which shows the artwork. However, as you can see by the circled ones, some of them have weird black bars around them to form a landscape shape, even though the image itself is portrait dimensions. I notice that this occurs on many different channels each time I use this feature, and it tends to be just random. Is there any way to fix this?
ebr 16182 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Interesting - I think you are the first person who has expressed a preference for the non-traditional guide presentation . As for your image question, best to keep that discussion in the support areas so we can continue to discuss there. Thanks.
