galapogas 0 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 I have installed the latest emby on my gentoo server but i am unable to find a way to start emby-server as a openrc service. Every time i run emby-server, it runs in foreground. is there any way i can make it run as a startup service?
galapogas 0 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 I depackaged the debian file and put everything where it was supposed to be!
Luke 42078 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Ok I'm afraid we haven't tested doing this so at this stage I don't have answers for you. Have you considered running our docker container?
MediaMogal 19 Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 (edited) Is there any update on this? I'm looking to test out Artix with the Plasma desktop and would like to know if you have instructions for OpenRC and Runit. I'm honestly not wanting to use Docker at all. Thanks Edited July 31, 2021 by MediaMogal

Thanks Hi, we don't have an official process for this. Docker is probably the best option.
MediaMogal 19 Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Since both have probably been around since before 2018 Emby should already be able to be setup on at least one of them without having to use Docker.

We really haven't seen many user inquiries about OpenRC but if there's adequate demand then we can certainly look into it.
Normanos 13 Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 I found week ago Emby start up script for gentoo. Little bit changed, maybe need something to edit, but it's working for me. Need to put in /etc/init.d folder and make exec.... , of course. Maybe will help for someone. P.S. Why Emby server does not exist in gentoo portage? I also using Debian package... . emby

Normanos 13 Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 Thanks, but no way. Personally I don't like dockers. They not safe at all.
