Yeah..  So pretty much unusable :(

Thanks for the video though.  I have heard it runs much better on Ouya/XIOS - would love to see a video of that.

Yeah, I use the PIs in the kids room ;-) Yes it is a whole lot better on the Ouya, I will try to video the Ouya.

There was this video of "Mediabrowser3 android client sending video to XBMC" which I believe was running on a Raspberry Post, that was posted by @@scalda a while back.

Shame, I was hoping the improvements you posted about a few weeks ago might have made some difference. It does make xbmc a playable client using the ios iPhone ipad and android apps so it's not all bad! Still get the boblight working!

Yeah, Pi is never going to run fast - Python just runs too slow on it.  XIOS and Ouya are cheap enough though :)

I have the Ouya and it is just OK. I am about to drop XBMC all together and just get a Roku3 to use as my MB3 client.

Off topic - but does Roku mean transcoding?

I've got a Pi (Type B), Running XBMC & XBMB3C - and for me it runs OK e.g. it is usable.

- clean install of XBian,

- Updated to Gotham.

- Video Running in 720p

- Did not configure anything in the XBMC library.

- Installed XBMB3C, addon and the Arctic Skin (from the XBMB3C repo).

- Within XBMB3C addon I enabled the JSON switch.. and also disabled Fanart Backgrounds.

The Arctic skin took some customising to find out the best views for the Pi... but overall the skin it seems pretty light.

I am able to navigate through Movies TV shows with no problem. the best view I found is the Thumbnail View.

When opening a video it can take a little while (up to 20 seconds) before the stream starts.

So using the remote is fine, but where I find the Pi works best is as a device to stream to either using the Android or the Web client.

Find the content you want to play on your Phone or Tablet then send it to your Pi.

Agreed, but then a chromecast is only £30 and much less hassle

Actually that's wrong, with xbmc you could use all the non video stuff, spotify ran ok, I think Iplayer worked, you can use xbmc addons such as the boblight led setup.

I guess I have been over at AVSForum for too long - for me transcoding is a show-stopper.

I don't mind transcoding as long as it is on the kids TVs and not mine  ;)

Ditto, you have to transcode for mobile anyway but I wouldnt recommend chromecast or pi for a main tv

Sounds like we are on the same page :)  NUCs are really cheap now!

I like my nuc. Does full htpc duties and emulates up to psx games. I have win8 installed on it but I could be persuaded to try a Linux one when a mb3 client is developed.

NUC is awesome with OpenElec/XBMB3C.
