mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 (edited) After the update to 4.1.0.26 I started noticing that a majority of my media items are not displaying chapters. This is affecting movies and television items. It seems all newly added movie items display the chapters, but older items no longer do. Television seems hit or miss. Rebuilding the database doesn't seem to resolve the issue. Anyone else notice this? I have since updated to 4.1.1.0 and updated the library. The issue is still there. mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) On the movie information page. All new movies and television that I add appear to populate. The vast majority (95% ish) of media acquired before the 4.1.0.26 upgrade do not display chapters.Although a handful do. Edited May 3, 2019 by mrtwopoints
Luke 42081 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Have you tried running the Thumbnail images scheduled task?
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 3, 2019 Author Posted May 3, 2019 Multiple times. It completes in under a minute with no changes made to the chapter images.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Do you have a "thumbnail-failures.txt" in your Emby cache folder? What happens if you delete the failure text file, restart your server and run the task again?
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 I did, followed your device and deleted, restarted the server and ran the create thumbnail task again. It only ran for 90 seconds, no change is apparent in the amount of movies that have chapter thumbnail images displayed. A new thumbnail-failures.txt file was placed in the cache folder. It only has one line in its contents. D:\Media Libraries\Television\Walking Dead, The\Season 9\s09e15 - The Calm Before.mkv636891880450000000 I'll play around with that file and rerun later today.
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) Removed that file causing an issue, deleted the thumbnail-failures.txt file, restarted the server, reran the thumbnail scan, completed in 8 seconds. No change at all to my issue though. Most movies and tv shows still display no chapters or images. Edit: There wasn't a new thumbnail-failures.txt file created after the last scan. AmericanMike 17 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 going to add my name to this list where its not working. I can't find the Roku Thumbnails plug-in since the upgrade so I assume you have incorporated it into the last upgrade. I did see the thumbnail-failures.txt file, deleted it, restarted the server but sill only runs in 0 seconds with no error file.

AmericanMike 17 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 What is the actual "setting per library" that I am verifying? Don't see anything obvious or out of place.
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 I do have these options selected. It is creating chapter images for some content, and not others, within the same library. 1
AmericanMike 17 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Make sure these options are all checked. thanks!!! That was a feature I wasn't aware aware of. I made the changes and will see how things work tomorrow.
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 All the correct options for me are verified selected. I decided to delete my database and cache folders. I re-scanned my library. Only items added after 3-19-19 populated chapter images. Anything before does not. Is anyone else seeing anything like this?
mrtwopoints 8 Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 After a lot of trial and error I've found that I can get around this issue by deleting the old .bif file and then moving the movie file into a new location that is part of the library. Then rescanning for new files, after this the chapter images are created.
Luke 42081 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 That's strange, thanks for the info. We'll try to chase down why this happened to you and see if we can resolve it for others. Thanks.
AmericanMike 17 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 after monitoring this for several days all seems to be working as expected. I consider my issue closed. Thanks!
