Cache and MetaData

My C: drive is a fast but small SSD.
My D: drive is mechanical drive.
My Z: drive is where I store my media (It's a DrivePool Virtual drive consisting of 7 HDs)

Looking at the dashboard I see:

Cache:
d:\embyCache\cache <- 1.8Gb in size
Logs:
C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\logs
Metadata:
D:\EmbyMetaData\metadata <- 569mb in size
Transcoding temporary files:
D:\EmbyTranscode\Transcoding-temp
Question 1:
MetaData -
In the past the options were either default (metadata inside of emby program directory) or 'put my metadata here' where you provided *a* location for metadata (still not with the media)
I think this may be how mine got to be on D:

MetaData can now be set to be stored with the media, Which I have set in within each library. yet it still lists D:

I'd like to have as much metadata with my media as possible, Bellow is what I see still on D:

    Directory: D:\EmbyMetaData\metadata
Mode LastWriteTime Length Name
---- ------------- ------ ----

d----- 4/30/2019 10:23 AM livetv
d----- 4/3/2019 8:33 PM MusicGenre
d----- 10/2/2017 8:03 PM People
d----- 7/2/2017 12:26 PM Studio
d----- 1/10/2019 6:25 PM views

Can I move this stuff somewhere with the media?

Question 2:
Cache and Transcoding - am I causing a significant impact by not having these on my SSD?

Yes there will still always be some things inside the server's metadata folder as you have discovered.

How would i get that moved back inside of the server folder?

Get what moved exactly? I don't quite understand, sorry.

Well, if I installed emby fresh today the metadata would be with the emby server, or with the media. As a result of my changing the location of Metadata in an older version of emby, some of my Metadata is with the server, some is with the media, and some is in a third location.

The setting that allowed me to put the Metadata in that third location no longer exists, as the newer emby gives me the option to put it with the media instead. Yet some of my Metadata is still going to that third location.

Third location? I don't really know what you mean. I don't think we ever had anything like that.

OK - Lets try this another way :) - I think i found where it is set. My system.xml (which is here C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\config) contains this line:

<MetadataPath>D:\EmbyMetaData</MetadataPath>

Looking at another Emby server this line doesn't exist in it's server.xml  ... If I were to remove that line I beleive Emby would put my metadata here: C:\Users\Jeffl\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata

Am I right? and if I did that would it cause any harm or would emby just have to recreate some metadata?

That would be the path set in Dashboard-Library-Advanced-Metadata path.  Clearing that field and allowing everything to go back to default \programdata\metadata won't hurt anything until you delete the custom metadata folder.  When you delete the custom metadata folder, all items will need to be refreshed (at least all items that point the that custom paths) as the database will be looking in the custom recorded path for primarily images.

Done! - I copied the metadata from D: to the metadata folder in C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server removed the line from the xml file and restarted emby Did a metadata scan and all apears ok :)

You might see issues with people as that path no longer exist.  There is a topic in the testing are I can find with the database replace commands to actually update the Path and Image column if needed.

**Here is the topic I was thinking of multiple paths in database.
