KarterJK 35 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I currently read an article that stated Emby does not support DRM channels is that true? I haven't looked at Emby in a while. But when I did use it, one could watch DRM channels, has that changed?
arche 177 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 (edited) I currently read an article that stated Emby does not support DRM channels is that true? I haven't looked at Emby in a while. But when I did use it, one could watch DRM channels, has that changed? Unless you had a tuner that gave you access to DRM Channels, Emby will usually support anything your tuner supports (HDHomeRun, IPTV, etc..) or side loaded something (WMC, etc..) for the DRM Channels. KarterJK 35 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 I use HDHomeRun Primes..so it did/does provide DRM channels. The article was incorrect. thnx
ebr 16176 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Hi. Emby has never supported true DRM channels. Now, we can support certain cable company encrypted channels via a tuner with a Cable Card, but not true DRM ones (e.g. HBO, Showtime, etc.) at this time. Perhaps you are thinking of WMC?
kanipek 230 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 DRM and Encrypted channels get confused a lot. Many channels are encrypted but have no DRM and those channels as @@ebr says can be viewed in Emby utilizing a CableCard equipped tuner.

Spectrum ... and lock down, via DRM (actually CCI), all but OTA channels on their cablecard. Edited April 30, 2019 by BillOatman
kanipek 230 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Yes. That seems to be most common. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
