denz 501 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Currently to delete something just takes way too many key presses for something that gets used frequently it should be located next to play button. I would be very surprised if users will use favourite, watched button that often for tv recordings. 2
maegibbons 1287 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 I raised this before over two years ago. It should have a seperate button right next to play especially in a recordings library because thats what you want to do. Resume, play and delete! Krs Mark 2
denz 501 Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 I just hope we start with Android Tv as that one works flawlessly but needs a visible delete button. I don't care about other libraries as I doubt users will ever use delete button or if they do it will be very rare but for pvr it needs to be visible and close to play button. Resume, Play and Delete! That is what we need.
Luke 42078 Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 The first thing is making sure the decision is standardized across all platforms.
maegibbons 1287 Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Web app has: Resume, play, delete buttons. Android has Delete icon next to download. Android TV is the odd one out! Krs Mark
arrbee99 1815 Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I never delete anything from Emby, so hopefully it won't be there in case you yet that 'Hey, I pressed delete and nothing happened' bug report.
denz 501 Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 Than I guess you don’t use the dvr feature. For dvr delete is the next most important button next to play or resume. Other libraries I don’t delete either.

Other libraries I don’t delete either. You're right: delete probably isn't used very much except for DVR. I worry about people aiming to hit "play" but hit "delete" instead. I don't use DVR and have locked down permission to delete media to avoid such mistakes for my users.
denz 501 Posted April 30, 2019 Author Posted April 30, 2019 Users will develop Carpal tunnel syndrome if it doesn’t change. I delete everything on the web client because there is so many clicks required if you watch 3 or 4 recordings a night it is a scary number of clicks required. I would also prefer that on the delete dialog yes is in focus. Or an option after you watch a recording that it pops up after you back out do you want to delete the recording that is if you watch a certain percentage either 80% because of pre and post padding.
arrbee99 1815 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I would imagine for those that have no interest in deleting recordings in Emby, being automatically asked if they want to delete every time they watch a recording would get old really quickly. 1
denz 501 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 (edited) I agree with you I wouldn’t be a fan of it either but just a suggestion just hope something gets done soon as I really like Android tv. Devs did an awesome job there are still improvements to be made. Edited May 1, 2019 by denz
arrbee99 1815 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Don't have any objections to the idea, just thought I'd mention it. Was thinking it would actually be nice to have an option of being able to enable / disable / hide the buttons you want (or don't want) to use, so you could get rid of Favorite, add Delete, or whatever as desired. Maybe easier said than done though.
denz 501 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 It is very hard to satisfy everyone but that would satisfy everyone I never use favourites or complete button so that could be hidden.
denz 501 Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Android tv has the option to hide the pre play media information and hopefully there will be an option across all the apps so no user is disadvantaged those who want it and those who like me don’t want it. So it can be done it’s only whether devs want to implement it.
