You know what would be REALLY cool, is to collaborate with MadVR to incorporate their tone mapping into a server-side process. [emoji6]

 

I’d run MadVR in a heartbeat if it didn’t require a full-on HTPC.

That would actually be super sweet if it could all be done on the server side.

Is FFmpeg in theory capable to convert HDR source to SDR without washed out colors?

Yes once add tone mapping support to our transcoding.

Thats correct.

 

Currently emby does NOT tell ffmpeg to Tone map because it is complicated in all the situations that emby has to deal with.

 

It is coming. Just be patient.
