crusher11 1101 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I've added a few stubs, and added "[DVD]", "[bD]" or "[uHD]" to the front of the title to indicate they're offline. I added the same strings to system.xml under SortRemoveWords, so they still sort properly, but it hasn't worked. It lists all my BDs, then all my DVDs, then all my UHDs, then my online files. What have I done wrong?
ebr 16183 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Did you re-start the server after editing the file? You might also have to do a full-refresh of the content.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 I didn't realise I had to restart the server. So I deleted the tags, checked everything was back to sorting correctly, restarted the server and re-added the tags. It's still sorting with the tagged files first. I've spent a lot of time working on images, creating custom images in cases where all image types weren't available, etc...so I don't really want to have to do a full metadata refresh. Is there an alternative?
Luke 42078 Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Not at this time. It's something that needs improvement in the future. thanks.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 So is there any way to back up my images so I can quickly restore them?
crusher11 1101 Posted April 10, 2019 Author Posted April 10, 2019 Covers, logos, thumbnails, backgrounds, etc. They're with the media.
Luke 42078 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 So if they're with the media then nothing needs to be done to back them up, right?
crusher11 1101 Posted April 10, 2019 Author Posted April 10, 2019 If I refresh metadata to try and fix the sorting issue, they'll be replaced no?
ebr 16183 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 If I refresh metadata to try and fix the sorting issue, they'll be replaced no? Shouldn't be if you don't select "replace images". Test on one...
crusher11 1101 Posted April 10, 2019 Author Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) Is there a bulk way to do that though? I was looking at the 'scan library' option, which doesn't have that checkbox. It doesn't seem to have fixed the problem, anyway. It renamed itself and thus sorted correctly, but when I added "[bD]" to the front of the title it went right back to the front of the queue. Luke 42078 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Is there a bulk way to do that though? I was looking at the 'scan library' option, which doesn't have that checkbox. Did you explore the options in that dialog?
crusher11 1101 Posted April 10, 2019 Author Posted April 10, 2019 Why is that your response to everything? If there's an option you think would be helpful, why not just mention it specifically? As fro the options present: Scan for new and updated files would presumably do nothing as the files already exist. Search for missing metadata would presumably do nothing as no metadata is missing. Replace all metadata sounds like it replaces everything. Or does this one actually leave images alone? Either way, I tried a refresh on a single item and it didn't help, it's still sorted first. The custom exclusion just isn't working.
ebr 16183 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Why is that your response to everything? If there's an option you think would be helpful, why not just mention it specifically? He's not trying to be obtuse . The reason we ask that is, if you go back and look at [whatever] again and then still come back and say "I couldn't find it" (kinda like you just did) then we know we may need to address something in the interface. If we just point you to the right place, then we never know if something isn't as clear as it should be. Thanks.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 So is there anything I can do to fix this?
Luke 42078 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Have you used the metadata editor to check and see if any of your titles have custom sort titles applied?
crusher11 1101 Posted April 14, 2019 Author Posted April 14, 2019 They do not That wouldn't have made sense anyway, as they sort correctly when I don't have [bD] or [DVD] in the title, and as soon as I add it they jump to the top. So they're sorting correctly by what their title is, it's just not taking into account that I added [DVD] and [bD] to the sort exclusions in system.xml.
Luke 42078 Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 Are those strings actually part of the display name in emby? If not, then that is why your config is having no effect.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 14, 2019 Author Posted April 14, 2019 Yes, they are. Where else would they be?
crusher11 1101 Posted April 15, 2019 Author Posted April 15, 2019 It's listing 12 Angry Men, followed by my Blu-Rays, followed by my DVDs, followed by my UHDs, followed by the rest of my online files.
Luke 42078 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Can you try refreshing metadata on those titles? Thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Can you go over one example on how you are doing this. Something doesn't quit make since here.
crusher11 1101 Posted April 16, 2019 Author Posted April 16, 2019 Refreshing metadata just deletes the [bD] or [DVD] tag, at which point the film sorts correctly. Once I re-add the tag though, it goes back to where it is in those screenshots. What doesn't make sense about how I'm doing this?
