I dont know if this is an Emby issue or the Samsung tv issue. Ill start here. I just installed a Samsung UN75NU7200. Latest Emby app is installed. Curently I only have DVD quality movies (480p) loaded to my server as until now I didnt have need for BluRay. So all of my rips are standard 720x480. On all of my other players (Roku, Android and XB360) through HDMI the video scales correctly to the Samsung TV. The native Emby app however does not. It is currently set to Auto quality rate but when doing so always stretches the 480p video of my movies vertically. I can set the quality rate to either 720p or 480p and the picture scaling is correct but of couse the picture quality suffers. None of this happens when I switch to any of the external video devices.

Additionally I suppose beacuse the app is hosted on the tv, the TVs native scake controls are defeated. I cant use the TVs controls to stretch, squish or otherwise manipulate the image. The controls become greyed out and not selectable.

Do you know if this is something that can be further adjusted in Emby or is it an issue with the tv and Samsung needs to get incolved?

Let me know your thoughts

Hi, can you confirm the actual version of the app (check the dashboard during playback)?  Some of the 2018 models aren't on the latest release yet and I think this has been fixed.

App version is 2.1.0. Says it is the latest

Thx

If that is the version the dashboard is reporting then it is an older version. When Samsung release the update for this model it will be resolved.

The latest Tizen app version should be 1.0.x not 2.1.x.    We haven't gotten that far :)  The NU7200 looks to be a standard 1 model group so may be higher the mine which is 1.0.29

It should be 1.0.29 I expect.  (or best case 1.0.45 for some 2018 models)

Just rechecked the version number and it says 1.0.45.  2.1.0 was for the Directv Now app which I am also having issue with.  So the Emby app on Samsung TV is currently at 1.0.45.  The app says it is the latest but I don't know if that is the one that you are referring to that is pending Samsung release.

Thx

Then you should find this is fixed when you get the next update.

So there is something coming after 1.0.45? If so Ill be glad to check it out. Is there a way to get the newest and sideload to the TV? I tried to initiate an update through the TV but it says I have the latest.

Thx for info.

@@Luke. I just noticed that 480p files are now scaling correctly on my Samsung TV app. I like it and am grateful. I checked the version number of app and it is still at 1.0.45 so not actually an update. Did something else change that allows the proper scaling without having to do an update through Samsung? Just curious.

Not that I can think of. Maybe the difference is direct play vs transcoding. I would imagine that if the server is transcoding then it may fix this. Thanks for the feedback.
