david3663 29 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) I really like MBT since i swtched over trying to leave media center but i have a problem that leaves me to use external players. My stereo content only plays on my 2 front speakers instead of all of them so the dailogue is really low. I know its not an issue with MBT itself but LAV audio, My question is there any plans to allow the use of ffdshow as an audio codec as it has option to upmix stereo content? I'm sure it would not be hard to maybe add an option to select Analog or Digital in audio settings and if analog is selected use ffdshow. Edit - To add to this it is also possible to use LAV audio to decode and use ffdshow raw for the filters but it does not work with MBT because it doesn't pick up other codecs. Luke 42077 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Possibly but if it happens it would be a ways away. it is enough work as it is now just integrating lav and getting it to "just work".
david3663 29 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Ok thanks while im on the topic i see in the audio settings an option for mixing and it has dolby pro logic etc.. Is this not functional as it seems to make no difference if i select it.

Please confirm that you have also selected "Enable PCM Mixing". Edited May 22, 2014 by babgvant

I have set 1. check enable pcm mixing 2 mix encong = dolby pro-logic II 3. mixing layout 5.1 4. mixing setting: clip-protection 5. Audio device = default device 6. audio render = reclock 7. the reciever is running straight, no dsp 8. runnning version 3.0.5744.24672 of mbt 9. filter set = stable My test-clip is a 2 channel() tv station, so it is live tv. in lav control is says that the container is aac(2.0), in 8mc is says that it is 2 channel mpeg. The emby server is transcoding. I also have a video in mp3 2 channel, which doesn't upmix either. What information would you like to have. Edited October 11, 2015 by hhb97b
babgvant 143 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 What does the AVR report as the channel count & media type?
hhb97b 11 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) Hi Sorry about not checking the avr. The avr is saying pcm and 5.1 channel, so the avr is receiving upmix channel. No sound is coming from the center channel, only left and right, I tought that upmixing would "create" a center channel audio, by combine left and right. Am I misunderstanding the concept? The receiver is a yamaha rx-a1020 thanx for you help Edited October 11, 2015 by hhb97b
hhb97b 11 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 To answer my own question Am I misunderstanding the concept? I have read about lav filter and my research is that lav doesn't upconvert 2.0 -> 5.1 where the different channels are mix together. So I was wrong about expecting audio in the center channel. The system works as it can with the lav audio filter
babgvant 143 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I think what you want is to output stereo to the AVR then configure it to do All Channel Stereo (or whatever it's called on your AVR).
