nativejake89 0 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 hello, i'm kind of new to this i was and am still using plex on a novice level but plex was giving me a lot of grief lately so a friend told me about emby and how it's better than plex. so i decided to switch. i downloaded emby on my windows 10 PC and got the premiere subscription, i can log in on my PC but i cant log in anywhere else (Xbox, smart TV, PlayStation, android and Roku). i can't get past the server connection part using add server or connecting to my current server or even using emby connect. it just keeps telling that there's a connection error and i'm not able to connect even though i can use it on my PC just fine.
rbjtech 5284 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 (edited) A few pointers - Are all the other devices on the same network - ie do they all have the same IP address range - such as 192.168.1.X Is your PC Windows 10 LAN setup to be a 'Private' network - if not, then you'll need to set this to ensure the firewall rules (that Emby created for you) work. If you go into the firewall (advanced), you should see a rule with 'EmbyServer.exe' - make sure that is there and active. If Emby is working on the local PC, then it must be listening on the correct port for the browser to work (port 8096), so this is a network connectivity or firewall problem I feel. When you connect your other devices - try and use your PC IP address (rather than a name) - remembering to use port 8096 I hope this helps. Edited March 30, 2019 by rbjtech
